Verified Trader,
Not hockey cards but hockey related pieces that I plan on framing and hanging in my little hockey area/office. Both have stories to go with them and are most certainly 'one of ones.'
This Sports Illustrated is no normal magazine. It was the personal copy of NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (formerly known as Lou Alcindor). This came from his charity and he was happy to sign and inscribe it for me. I actually have a video of Kareem signing it and noting how it was addressed to his mother and from his personal collection. I had it in my hands for about two hours before I mailed it off to Perreault to sign. Today, it came back from Gilbert.
The second item has to do with one of my 'guilty pleasures.' I have a lot/hate relationship with the History Channel. I studied history in undergrad and I grew up watching the channel when it was mostly good content. Today, the content is not so good. I dislike most of the shows but I always had a soft spot for Pawn Stars. I hate the acting in the show but I enjoy the information about the objects that come into the shop. Its a show I love to hate haha
Not long ago an episode featured someone taking in a massive binder of autographs that was all the contracts he had signed for a game he created called Face to Face. Here's the screenshot from episode:
They bought all of the contracts and a little light went off in the back of my head that I remembered Coach Bombay was in the game. I had started an Emilio Estevez card collection years ago and remember once having his 'card' from the game. I'm a 90s kid so The Mighty Ducks was a big part of my childhood. I contacted the pawn shop asking what they wanted for the Estevez contract. To my surprise, it wasn't all that much so I bought it! I also asked if Rick Harrison (the main 'Pawn Star' from the show) could sign it. He did and it also came with a Beckett authentication.
And the card that the contract was signed for:
I think I'll try and frame it all together with a screenshot from the show, two cards (front and back) and the contract. Perhaps even a shot of Estevez as Coach Bombay.
