1) Do they have different turnaround times?

2) Have you ever heard of someone stealing cards that were sent to them or on the way back to you? If so, should I ship who I work for and get insurance on them?

I think that's about it for now. Thanks in advance!!

I've only sent in cards for grading when a Beckett rep is present. The turnaround is 6 weeks or less I am thinking.

I never heard of cards being stolen... it wouldn't be impossible I guess but there is a paper trail involved. You specify exactly what the card is that you are sending.

1) yes different turnaround times and the shorter the time, the more it costs you

2) DEFINTELY! I sent down a raw graded crosby FW 9.5, plus some other nice cards - total value close to $2000. I insured it for the $1000 max that canada post will do. Made it to the Farmer's Branch postal depot in dallas TX, and there it stopped. After intense attempts to locate the shipment, basically it came to that, that branch knows VERY well what is in the envelopes - they get hundreds and hundreds of parcels daily for Beckett. I am 100% certain that a US postal worker decided to have my parcel 'fall off the truck' as the $1000 value was marked on the envelope.

SEND AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!! If you are sending a card that means a lot to you or is irreplaceable...I would not send it!

Thank you for the advice. I knew that some people got screwed by the Postal Service. I'm really nervous since it is only 3 cards but the total value is somewhere between $7500 hi and $4200 low. So, I think I'll just have to drive to a BGS show and have them do it there….if they do that, in fact. THANK YOU for sharing and that truly sucks. I hope somehow someway those cards make it back to you.

I'm sure 99% of people will tell you that they had no issues, but some shipments do magically disappear - mine did. Crappy thing is Canada Post writes the insured value on the custom's sheet, so it is obvious the value of what is inside. I could gamble and not insure to not draw attention to the contents, but then if it disappears then i am out 2K instead of 1K.

In regards to this point, I was referring to thefts at Beckett, not ones in transit. There are just too many sad posts about people getting their "empty envelope" mail from the post. :(
