A damaged Crosby AARGH!

Bought 10 packs of series 2. Was happy over all with the packs. Managed to pull 2 1of1 ( Crosby,Tollefsen). Also pulled a Quinn Hughes canvas YG’s. You ask -what is there to complain about. The Crosby has a small ding bottom right corner.
That took my enthusiasm done a couple notches.

Called UD and they say they can’t replace it -(I get that it’s a1of1). So I ask for something else. It was like Trump trying to get Mexico to pay for the wall, not happening.

They buy these cards back as is . So you get what you get. No quality control on these cards. Just jam them into packs and let your customers deal with. I guess that’s what you get with a monopoly. BUYER BEWARE

You crushed those 10 packs. Well done.

In fairness to UD, they had to buyback a ton of cards (base cards to boot, which are undesirable as-is and probably face to worst kind of treatment) to make this 30th Anniversary 1/1 BuyBack set work. They didn't have the time to buyback the mint versions of each base card in the set. They needed to buy in bulk to get it done. The fact that they were able to buyback this many cards spanning 30 years from the secondary market and pack them all out is a pretty cool feat in itself.

They unfortuntely don't have the man power to check 1000's of base cards bought off the secondary market before they receive a stamped 1/1 before going into packs. Sure it sucks, but it is what it is.

Now because it's a Crosby base buyback, I suppose they could have just re-buy the base card and have it restamped, but they don't want to open the flood gates on other potential (And I'm sure there are many) flaws with these BuyBack base cards out there (because, well, they're base cards), so then need to leave it as is.

I hate to defend UD on this one, but it is a buyback base card after all. Cards can't always be perfect. Maybe I'm being too lenient, but this is just my 2 cents.

I had the same issue, a 1/1 beat to death and Upper Deck told me the same thing!

Still stinks but at least me 1/1 was a nobody. Sorry on your Crosby!

eh it's a buyback so there will be some condition sensitive issues. Still a really sweet card.
