As some of you may or may not know, Im a very serious and hardcore vintage game-used card collector on the hockey side of things. However, I've always converted, and have started to pick up vintage game-used baseball pieces. I try to mostly focus my baseball collecting within Ruth and Gehrig, but I will pick up the odd piece here and there. With that being said, I was able to acquire these just recently, but had a great friend drop them off to me at Expo, this past weekend. Please take a look, and let me know what you think. Also need to mention, these card(s) as PC only, and are not available. Thanks in advance!
1999 UD A Piece of History 500 HR Club Mel Ott Bat BGS 9
After all these years, this is still an extremely popular set. And many copies have disappeared into personal collections. Although Im not a huge on the whole game-used bat thing, this is an extremely early and important set for UD. I believe its one of the first game-used baseball set, that was produced. Im slowly trying to piece together the set. Nothing that I plan on completing in the very near futrue, but it will be a nice side project.
2001 SP Legendary Cuts SP Debut "Shoeless" Joe Jackson Game-Used Bat BGS 9.5
Again, dont really go after bats pieces, but this is a very important piece of baseball history. Not only is it the first UD Joe Jackson memorabilia piece, but its the only licensed Jackson memorabilia card on the market. To this day, these still sell for very strong prices. Ive wanted one for a very long time. Ive been very picky as these are super condition sensative, with a gold background. When this became available, I knew it was a great opportunity to own a "gem mint" example. Very happy to add this to the collection.
2012 National Treasures League Leaders Lou Gehrig/Jimmie Foxx Combo Materials /25 BGS 9.5
Again, sorta' wish the Gehrig piece featured a piece of jersey or pants, but I couldn't say "no" to that beauty Foxx piece. Figured there couldn't be too many pieces like that around. You generally see a lot of Foxx game-used bat pieces. I believe this swatch comes from a glove. So Im glad I could add this to the PC.
