Hello again! It's been a long while since I've posted here, as I basically left the card collecting hobby a few years ago. It wasnt that I hated the hobby, but, the card companies basically quit producing the player that intersted me the most...Todd Bertuzzi. The odd game used card pops up once in a blue moon, but they are far and few between (quick shout out to Dr. P for the amazing patch in Enforcers II). No other player really grabbed my attention, and I pretty much own all the other game used/auto cards that have been produced with Bertuzzi on them. However, there have always been a few that have eluded me, and I still do my searches on Ebay for them...which rarely turns up any results. Needless to say, the PC hasn't grown much in the past few years...until now.

Earlier in the week I received a message from the one and only, Bruce (aka: meatmancgy), asking me for my address. He said he had a few cards he'd like to send my way. I sent him my address, and figured perhaps he had pulled something "new" that I hadnt seen yet. A couple days later, there was the package in my mail box. When I opened up the package, my jaw nearly hit the ground as these two beauties came out...

They are cards 7/8 and 8/8 from 2006-07 SP Game Used "By The Letters" from the "Bertuzzi" nameplate. They may be numbered /8...but lets face it, they are both 1/1's. I did know that Bruce owned these (at one time), and in the past we had tried to hammer out a deal for them, but couldn't work anything out. They just sat on my list of cards I hoped to own one day. I always wanted to "re-unite" them with a few other cards I had from that same set...so...with huge gratitude towards Bruce for making this happen, here is the COMPLETE nameplate from 06/07 "By The Letters" of Todd Bertuzzi...

Seriously...words cannot describe how grateful and amazed I am by the generosity showed by Bruce. I had pretty much given up hope in locating some of the cards I still wanted/needed in my PC, and like I said, I had lost interest in the hobby in general. Let me tell you, this has rejuvinated my interest in the hobby, and made me remember what great members are actually on these boards. Bruce, you are a classy guy, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I wont forget this...that I promise!!

Thanks for the show and it's always a pleasure reading about the H.I. community & their generosity.

A 'Big Shout out' to Bruce on making this a reality for you and re-igniting your collecting bug. Cause you know, it is a disease.... ;) lol

Awesome story about an awesome guy helping complete an awesome namebar! Thanks for sharing and congrats on bertu-zipping it up!

This is exactly why Hobby Insider is the best trading site on the web. I have been on both sides of the generosity. Its just as fun to give as it is to receive. Nice job Bruce!

Fantastic stuff!!!!

A hearty stick tap to Bruce. He's one that has made this hobby fun for me too. Great show of generosity.

Thanks for sharing.

Hearing things like this makes you realize that H.I. has a very classy group of individuals that frequent these boards.

Bruce, good on ya for helping a few collector out... your a class act fella.

Great looking nameplate, glad to see it was finally put together again congrats on the completion.

Cheers, Patrick

When I'm holding back someone from completing something amazing like a nameplate, it makes no sense to keep cards, in my mind. I hummed and hawed on this one for ages, discussed selling the cards to Brian as he states, and to another collector to facilitate the deal, but last week I just felt it was the right thing to do to send these as a surprise gift. Looks pretty damn amazing all together! The funny thing is, I used to own "BERT" as well, before selling a few years back to a guy who eventually sold to Brian!

Brian, enjoy the cards and "pay it forward" some day to someone else, k? :)

Thanks for sharing this. Bruce, just wow. I love this hobby a lot, and that passion is most often stoked when I read threads like this one.

Great looking set, and major kudos to Bruce for the act of generosity. Really good to read / hear about these kind of acts.

Brian, you are not telling me anything I didn't already know.........that Bruce is a great guy!!!

Super nice of him to "pay it forward"......"a lot better to give than receive" at times. This is one of those times. Kudos to Bruce.

And good to see you back on the boards and spreading hobby cheer. :D

Awesome Nameplate! :whatthehell:
