A preemptive real patch thread, a fake patch thread, and a questionable real ud pat

ch thread..ran out of letters. This is a 3 parter detailing patches used in 08-09 and 07-08 The Cup.

1. For this year's set UD cut up two 75th anniversary patches, one for messier (no pic) and one for Peter Stastny:

Which means that somebody out there should be lucky enough to pull the shield off that patch.


2. I can confirm with about 99% certainty that this Mullen patch is fake as his career predates that patch by about ten years. There is however likely a Hawerchuk with a similar patch somewhere, but I've yet to seen it, and there's only a very small chance of a mixup like that (The horn part for Hawerchuk has been listed on the bay a couple times but I don't think they'd line up, however I have no pic to 100% confirm).

Same with the Turco, haven't seen any other of those patches. I believe he's sold fake patches before. It's a shame somebody already bought it.

3rd and perhaps the strangest are the patches used in the Bobby Hull Signature Patches cards:

These two patches also seem to be from the 75th anniversary patch shown above, however he had been retired long before then. Any Ideas?

Anyway, these are the kind of things I notice when I'm doing my daily searches. Thanks for the read. -Adam

the bobby hull patches match up with an old-timers jersey of some sort upperdeck cut up for use in 00/01(i believe thats the year) UD legends....i don't have a copy of any of these cards in front of me but i remember it being some sort of old-timers event....NOT game-used....

*EDIT* and yes that mullen is fake as they only used pittsburgh patch for that card that year....

Probably, but that patch would have to strangely resemble the 75th anniversary patch.

elkridgesportscards is a definite patch faker, he's been selling fake football patches for a long time..cardboardgems1 is also another seller who has been a long time patch faker...
