Here we go. I am an ebay Powerseller and I receive emails all the time asking me to end auctions early. It is my policy to never end auctions early as a seller. I also never ask a seller to end an auction early. This is my policy not because I care about ebay and their greed, its simply as a collector I hate it when I am watching an auction and all of the sudden I see the "item is no longer for sale". I hate it when it happens to me, so I don't do it to anyone else. OK, enough of my rant. Here is my question. How many of you end auctions early or ask sellers to end auctions early? I have attached a poll and will keep the poll confidential so please be honest. Thanks, Mike

You know I play both sides on this. I never end auctions early when I am selling. And I never used to ask when I was buying.

But after seeing others "steal" things from me I felt the need to do it here and there. I have to say most times they say no, with a line that goes something like "it's not fair to others" or " It is against Ebay's policies". Every once in awhile someone will agree.

Of course it helps I usually overpay and I see the next copy of the same card always sell for half what I paid! It's called being impatient, LOL. :p

As a buyer... Sure, I've asked a few times. Sometimes it works... usually it doesn't.

As a seller... On my 'regular auctions' I never end something early that already has a bid. However, I mostly use fixed-price listings, so ending early is a moot point.

As a seller I've never ended an auction early but I would if someone offered me a ridiculous amount for the card. As a buyer I have asked a few times with minimal results in the person actually ending the auction.
I don't have a problem with someone ending an auction. Unless it's a 1/1 (which I don't bid on anyway) another will show up eventually!

As a seller I normally don't do it. I say normally cause one time someone made me an offer that knocked me off my chair and couldn't say no.

As a buyer I've done it a couple times when it was a card that I REALLY, REALLY wanted but it hasn't ever work for me yet.

I have ended my auction early on 1 instance, I was offered a ridiculous amount of money (Brian Leetch Flashback Fabrics- $250 US) and couldnt say no... however I would do it again if I got an offer that was amazing... but if I get an offer that is about what i think the auction will end at, i just decline and let it play through

as a buyer I do it all the time (but ONLY for those Ice patches /10 for the PC) and it succeeds most of the time... well about half of the time it works, the other times the seller would agree to end early, but their asking price was way too high... I rarely run into an occasion where the seller says "its unfair" or "against ebay rules"

I feel the need to do these things, as there is one buyer in particular that continuously outbids me on things i really need for my collection.. so i try and snag it, as the other ebayer has deeper pockets than me..

as a seller, im looking to get the most possible amount of money i can get for the item, and if i can get an offer that i really like, and avoid making the greedy eBay monsters any richer with those much too high FVF's, than why not

my 2 pennies

Dave
