Hi guys just doing some browsing on ebay and is it just me or is there some really top notch stuff on ebay right now and the past month or so?

If you keep looking along with Chris' high end stuff there is items like 01-02 SPGU auto jerseys looks like someone's breaking a set, A J. Plante PSA 7 rc, a PRKHURST ROOKIE Set complete.

I find this stuff to be really nice and interesting but isn't anyone else scared that all the collectors are flogging all thier stuff and if the NHL doesn't smarten up there will no longer be a hockey card market? THUS in turn driving all deman down along with value? SCARY STUFF!!

Frankly, I couldn't care less if the lockout ends up oversupplying the market with old stuff, and dropping demand (and prices) on it. That creates a buyers market for the people who still care to buy - and especially for those who collect for the love of the game, or for the love of certain players.

Sure, Beckett might throw some down arrows across the board if this trend continues (which, since this is all hypothetical... I must say, I don't think that this trend will continue at such an extent that it destroys the market)... but I know what my cards are worth to me.

The exact opposite is happening. I believe we will see some up arrows on all the high end stuff. People are finding they have more money so stuff is selling better than ever.

That's very true, for the high end / rare stuff... and for the present. I don't disagree at all.

My post was looking more towards a long-term hypothetical situation - what if the current trends keep up for a year? two years? more? Obviously, I don't think that will happen.

Yep,
Rookies, and old products are selling quite well thanks to no new product and no new rookies to go after and waste money on.
People are going back and picking up sets to do,
see it all over.
and money is being spent on that stuff.
pretty interesting to watch

It'll be interesting to see how much of these high-end rookies and others appear when the season gets going in another year...I think they'll be even tougher to find than ever.

I'm extremely thankful that I finished my emblem set before the lock out went into it's heavy swing. That Brodeur emblem could have cost me my house.
