Finally the day of Fedor's next fight is almost here. Who's ordering? Originally I thought the PPV was on the 17th which was not good for me since I am going to ACDC. However now that I see it is on the 24th I am amped since I will be watching! Hopefully they step up the production value from last time, it will be cool to see Ozzy rocking out also.

Prediction time:

WAMMA Heavyweight Championship bout:
Fedor Emelianenko (28 - 1 - 0) vs. Andrei Arlovski (14 - 5 - 0)

Josh Barnett (25 - 5 - 0) vs. Gilbert Yvel (35 - 12 - 1)

Renato Sobral (30 - 7 - 0) vs. Sokoudjou (5 - 3 - 0)

Matt Lindland (21 - 5 - 0) vs. Vitor Belfort (17 - 8 - 0)

Chris Horodecki (12 - 1 - 0) vs. Dan Lauzon (11 - 2 - 0)

Paul Buentello (26 - 10 - 0) vs. Kirill Sidelnikov (4 - 2 - 0)

Vladimir Matyushenko (21 - 3 - 0) vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (14 - 3 - 0)

Jay Hieron (16 - 4 - 0) vs. Jason High (6 - 0 - 0)

Mark Hominick (16 - 8 - 0) vs. LC Davis (10 - 1 - 0)

Albert Rios (10 - 3 - 0) vs. Antonio Duarte (10 - 1 - 0)

Brett Cooper (7 - 1 - 0) vs. Patrick Speight (7 - 4 - 0)

Another Solid Card

Heres my predictions for fun:

Fedor Emelianenko (28 - 1 - 0) vs. Andrei Arlovski (14 - 5 - 0)

Curious to see how long this one will last.

Josh Barnett (25 - 5 - 0) vs. Gilbert Yvel (35 - 12 - 1)

Awesome KO last fight, hope to see another

Renato Sobral (30 - 7 - 0) vs. Sokoudjou (5 - 3 - 0)

Anson Carter's been inconsistent but I think he'll be motivated for this one after being cut by UFC

Matt Lindland (21 - 5 - 0) vs. Vitor Belfort (17 - 8 - 0)

Vitor's just not old "Phenom", even though I still hope he does win.

Chris Horodecki (12 - 1 - 0) vs. Dan Lauzon (11 - 2 - 0)

Saw him in a couple fights in the IFL pretty impressive, plus he's Canadian...
is Dan training with BJ Penn too, or is that just Joe?

Paul Buentello(26 - 10 - 0) vs. Kirill Sidelnikov (4 - 2 - 0)

I'll go with the Head Hunter as I dont know who Sidelnikov is :)

Vladimir Matyushenko (21 - 3 - 0) vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (14 - 3 - 0)

Matyushenko is a top 10 fighter in his weight class.

Jay Hieron (16 - 4 - 0) vs. Jason High (6 - 0 - 0)

Only Hieron fight ive seen was against GSP so its not fair to judge him on that performance, but Jason High sounds cool, so......yeah

Mark Hominick (16 - 8 - 0) vs. LC Davis (10 - 1 - 0)

Hominick, did he get Donald Trump as a sponsor after his last fight?

Albert Rios (10 - 3 - 0) vs. Antonio Duarte (10 - 1 - 0)

I think Al Rios shouldnt quit his day job as the Jays Right Fielder :D

Brett Cooper (7 - 1 - 0) vs. Patrick Speight (7 - 4 - 0)

Cooper because i can pronounce his name

I'm saving my money this month for GSP vs. Penn 2. The card is very solid though with one exception, and that is Gilbert Yvel fighting Josh Barnett. Yvel has no business fighting anywhere. He got disqualified twice, once for biting an opponent and then once for repeatedly trying to blind Don Frye. He also knocked a ref down and then soccer kicked him. You can't tell me that Affliction couldn't find another opponent for Josh Barnett.

Impressive card again. Here are my picks:

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski

Josh Barnett vs. Gilbert Yvel

Renato Sobral vs. Sokoudjou

Matt Lindland vs. Vitor Belfort

Bobby Green vs. Dan Lauzon

Paul Buentello vs. Kirill Sidelnikov

Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

Jay Hieron vs. Jason High

Bao Quach vs. LC Davis

Albert Rios vs. Antonio Duarte

Brett Cooper vs. Patrick Speight

Yeah its always a tough call. It could be I will end up ordering both, however I will be getting Affliction 2 no questions asked. Anytime you can see Fedor right its worth the price of admission, he is the best fighter on the planet BAR NONE!

Also I am rooting for Affliction the UFC needs the healthy competition.

Lastly the UFC card is pretty weak, I am kind of shocked they wouldn't have put Franklin/Hendo or Coleman/Rua on the PPV card. Oh well if UFC wants to give us the good fights free, and make us pay for the bad ones that is their choice.

Are you telling me you got to watch those fights for free on Saturday Byron? Cause we sure had to pay for em on PPV here ;)

Really? They were on at the bar after the ACDC concert. Maybe it was a PPV? I thought it was like a fight night or something? UFC doesn't have it listed on their site. So if it was a PPV, then I apologize for my mistake.

EDIT: Never mind I see now it was a PPV sorry all for the mistake. Still that was a better card then UFC 94 IMO.

Canadian Chris Horodecki is officially off the fight card. Something wrong with his physical, as he will not be medically cleared to fight.

If you guys don't know Bao Quatch, who replaced Hominick..... you will. I've had the pleasure to see Bao fight a few times live and that kid is a freakin' beast! I guarantee we will bring the fight tonight.

WOW, what a punch by fedor. Knocked him out in mid air.

edit............. Tito needs to stay off the mic, he isnt making any sense.

Awesome night of fights. Belfort has been very impressive lately and I hope he can keep it up after his great performance tonight.

Fedor was great as usual even though it looked like Arlovski might have figured him out for a bit. Fedor is just so good at capitalizing on mistakes. I don't know if there's anyone that Affliction could sign that would give him any trouble. I don't see him having too many problems against Barnett.

And I also agree that Tito is a terrible commentator/interviewer. Half the time he made no sense at all.

This was taken from Todd Martin's fight blog on cbssports:

Tom Atencio in the Affliction press conference just hinted pretty strongly that Affliction may not be around much longer.

Atencio's remarks were, "There has to be competition, whether it's us or somebody else. Hopefully there's somebody out there that will continue to give [these fighters] a home and hopefully it will be us."

Oscar De La Hoya talked about competition again, saying he thought that they "caught someone's attention" and that "competition doesn't hurt anybody." He put over the evening of fights.

Tom Atencio announced an attendance of 13,228.

You just can't pay the fighters what Affliction is and not have the revenue from gate and PPV to sustain. I think the only opportunity for any serious competition from another company would have to come from Japan. But PRIDE really messed up with their mob ties, DREAM and to a lesser extent (IMO) Sengoku put on good shows, but they're floundering in Japan because of the left over backlash from PRIDE. Elite XC didn't have a viable business model and it appears that Affliction doesn't either.

I just got back from the show and WOW, what a night!

Let me say first... Screw you, Dana White, for airing the Lesnar/Couture fight tonight for free, just two months after I paid $45 for it. I swear, from this day on, I will never pay for another UFC PPV..... EVER!!!

Second, the announced attendance was 13,228, but I guarantee that when the numbers are released by the CSAC, more than half of those will have been comps. With that said, the place looked pretty packed by the end of the night.

Third, absolutly no respect for Dan Lauzon. Not one of those three "groin shots" hit him in the spot. Herb Dean will take a lot of flak for the calls, but he just wasn't in the correct position to see they never hit near his groin. Herb did his job and deducted points for the second and third time, but he wouldn't have had to do that had Lauzon not faked getting hit there... ALL THREE TIMES!!! He should be embarrased because it was all caught on tape and he can't come up with any excuse to get out of it.

I'm glad Belfort is getting back to his old self, but God was I worried for Lindland. That was the worst KO I have ever seen. It took him about 8 minutes to realize where he was.

Bao Quach really disappointed me! He did not look like himself at all tonight.

Lil' Nog looked great and avenged his loss to Vladimir Matyushenko from six years ago.

I personally didn't care to watch the Barnett/Yvel fight, just because I don't respect Yvel for his past actions.... eye gouging Frye, biting Barkalaev, and Ko'ing a ref during a fight http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=220964006501530800. The only good thing to come out of the fight is Barnett's win over Yvel gives him the next shot at Fedor.

Finally, I was picking Arlovski to win over Fedor and I thought he was going to do it. He was winning the round and looked like he would pull off the upset, and then Fedor does what he does best and capitalized on Andre's attempt at a flying knee and KO'd Arlovski in mid air.

I really want to see Barnett/Fedor, as Josh is realistically the only person that has a chance to beat him. Lesnar is a big and strong guy, but Fedor is just as strong and has much more experience and knowledge. Frank Mir, well he stands a slightly better chance than Lesnar, but not much. Let's be honest, Fedor is a freakin' cyborg that just can not be beat. He's the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

That's my take on the night.

Here are the results (courtesy of MMAWeekly) for anyone that's interested...

Jay Hieron def. Jason High by KO (Punch) at 1:04, R1
Fedor Emelianenko def. Andrei Arlovski by KO (Punch) at 3:14, R1
Josh Barnett def. Gilbert Yvel by Submission (Strikes) at 3:05, R3
Vitor Belfort def. Matt Lindland by KO (Punch) at :37, R1
Renato "Babalu" Sobral def. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou by Submission (D'Arce Choke) at 2:36, R2
Paul Buentello def. Kiril Sidelnikov by TKO (Doctor Stoppage) at 4:18, R3
Dan Lauzon def. Bobby Green by Submission (Rear Naked Choke) at 4:55, R1
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira def. Vladimir Matyushenko by TKO (Strikes) at 4:26, R2
L.C. Davis def. Bao Quach by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at 5:00, R3
Albert Rios def. Antonio Duarte by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at 5:00, R3
Brett Cooper def. Patrick Speight by KO (Punch) at 4:10, R2

I totally disagree with you that Barnett even stands a chance with Fedor, he is such a sloppy fighter and doesnt know how to finish a fight. Yesterday was a perfect example of Barnett having a full mount all 3 rounds and could not finish him, until Yvel just basically gave up. Arlovski had a lot better chance against Fedor than Barnett will ever have. I've been following Fedor from the very beginning and watched Barnett since he made his debut in the mma, and personally think Barnett is crap, and belongs in the ring with another crappy fighter like him Tim Silvia.
