If it was rigged then how can you explain Florida with the 29th pick, Nashville at #18, and Phoenix at #17? Then there's the Rangers at 16, the consensus pick in the media for where he "should" go. If it was rigged, these teams would have been in the top 5 as they are weak teams that need some young star power to really boost their fans excitement (excluding the Rangers who are like the Leafs except they don't make the playoffs) to solidify the hockey market there.

Thing is, the Rags started a bit of a youth movement in New York and cut alot of salary in favour of younger players. Pittsburgh didn't NEED Sidney, they've got Malkin, Fleury and Whitney all coming up who are all supposed to be great talents. The casual fans in Pittsburgh still won't care about the Pens, so it doesn't matter if they got #1 or #30, it'll still be a LONG time before the Cup makes the trip to Pittsburgh, if ever.

IF it was rigged it was only to get Crosby to a crappy team from the last few seasons(NYR,Pitt buffalo blue jacketts)....But if it was really fix to go to a certain team they would have been fixed it to go to NYR....PIt might of been bad because of lack of money but it goes both ways...Pens and Rangers had very different budgets but simular results..I can see people neing mad that a team that dumped players and started losing soon after why reward a team that over spent (unwisely) and still stunk it up anyway no team would of truly "earned" Crosby...if anything they should NOT have not give any bad teams a better chance...
