anderson silva VS john jones

No; personally I want to see this fight more than I want to see Silva/GSP. I can totally understand why Silva would rather face GSP than Jones. One needs only to look at the vital stats of the fighters to see it:

Anderson Silva: 6ft. 2in. 185lbs. (walk around 220ish)
Jon Jones: 6ft 4in. 205lbs (walk around 230ish)
Georges St. Pierre: 5ft. 11in. 170lbs. (walk around 190ish)

There is no fighter in the UFC that has been more selective in the opponents that he's faced than Anderson Silva; and that's fine.

He would obviously rather fight the person that he has a very big size advantage over in GSP. Then fight someone that has an appreciable size advantage over him.
 
I want to see the fight but at the same time I get the feeling it will turn very ugly like worse than Silva-Sonnen 2 ugly. They are professing so much respect for each other right now and these guys are on a whole other level, if the trash talk starts I do not see it being pretty in the cage or before. I very much doubt Silva is afraid of Jones as a lot of people think, maybe he just realizes he does not match up well with someone who can match his speed, his creativity, and has proven himself against some of the best LHWs in the world. Silva has beaten a journeyman, a former champ and a has been in the LHW, while I have no doubt Silva likely could beat the majority of the LHW division, he would run into problems with someone like Rashad Evans or Machida(granted they would never fight). If he has problems with either one and as easily as Jones handled both of them that shows that Silva may not have what it takes to take down a bigger, younger and stronger fighter.
 
i gurantee if the did did happen silve would not make it pass the second round, he would be wakeing up in his corner asking what happened and where am i at.

Huh?? This superfight has been discussed by TONS of people that want it to happen. Many would like to see it happen but I do not think you will see it. Silva and Jones have both gone on record stating they do not want to fight each other. Silva has now said the fight with Stephan Bonnar will be his last at 205. If that fight did happen it would be a baeuty. But, like the announcers stated last fight if GSP defeats Carlos Condit you will likely see Silva vs GSP in the fight of the century. I think Silva will have his way with him......but it's a fight that I have to see.

Why would you think for a second he is afraid? They BOTH
have said that they do not want to fight each other.

Is there something I've missed here? Everybody in the UFC that Silva's faced has won a title eliminator, been an injury replacement, been the #1 contender at the time or been a favor to the company. Cote and Leites were weak sounding title defenses, but were far and away the next in line that hadn't fought for the title yet.

Vitor Belfort is the only oddball title defense because he hadn't fought at middleweight in the UFC prior to the opportunity, however, the UFC brass gave him that shot, and it was scheduled at least 3 times and continuously pushed back due to injury. By then, Silva had basically cleaned out the division to the point where they had to do that.
 
Many media people are the ones saying that Silva is very selective. What are the two fights that the fans most want to see Anderson have? Jon Jones and Chris Weidman. If he doesn't want to fight Jones that's fine. But why has he said he doesn't think Weidman is a good fight right now? Weidman is widely regarded as the number 2 Middleweight in the world (with Chael moving to 205). Again this is Anderson being very coy and deflecting attention away from what could be the most challenging fights that he could have.
 
I think we all agree that the top 4 middleweights in the UFC right now are Silva, Weidman, Michael Bisping and Tim Boetsch right? From the UFC's business perspective, Silva/Bisping in the UK right now makes more sense than anything else IMO. That will sell out whatever 20,000 seat arena they choose to put it in. I'd even go so far as to say that they'd probably fill most of Wembley if they wanted to do that. I don't think they'd sell it out or be close, but half of Wembley is doable.

Tim Boetsch basically "screwed everything up" here. He's won 2 fights most people didn't give him a chance to win, and is just as deserving of Weidman based on who he's beat (even if they weren't in the most impressive of fashions.) They need Weidman to beat a "world beater" like Boetsch, and I think people will see him as more of a legitimate draw. The media's one thing, but if I told most of the UFC fans at the bar that Silva was fighting Weidman, most people would give it a pass. Right now, I would think either guy fighting Silva would get as much indifference from the general community as Silva/Leites.

The money fight right now is Bisping, I agree. But the "better" fight is Weidman, I feel that a Weidman/Silva fight is a tossup. I may even lean in Weidman's favor today.

It is that thinking that will prevent the UFC from really becoming mainstream and the idea of some that it is more spectacle than sport will continue when decisions like that are made.

I think Weidman poses the best threat of anybody else. He's a complete package.

The idea of best business/moral decision will always be a debate point though. Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant was the money match, though Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage was the "better" match. If you're Vince McMahon looking down the barrel at Wrestlemania III and trying to fill a 90,000 seat stadium, which of those do you book?

We're all of a similar school of thought discussing that as we were as wrestling fans years ago, when we couldn't understand why we kept getting shovel fed garbage like Kevin Nash vs Scott Steiner when Chris Benoit and Rey Mysterio were languishing on the undercard as the far better quality wrestlers. But we represent the unfortunate minority. We're not the ones that provide the 70% spike in Pay Per View revenue when Brock Lesnar is fighting, or the 40% spike on an all Heavyweights card. We're not the ones that are going to boost Ultimate Fighter's ratings when Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen coach (well I might...but I tend to stay away from TUF for the most part) and so on because we're already around. They don't need to sell to us :)
 
Throw enough Money at Silva and Jones and we will see the fight. I personally would like to see GSP in the mix forsure as he has ended some pretty good win streaks of his opponents, far better then both Silva and Jones.
 
Jones needs to get through Sonnen first. Shouldn't be a problem, but if for some strange reason Sonnen beats Jones, his mystique is all gone, Jones-Silva has little drawing power, and the best pound for pound discussion again only includes three names - Anderson Silva, Georges St. Pierre and Jose Aldo.
