Well folks, it's that time of year again.. when my wife and daughter go out of town to visit family and I have to work, the only thing left to do is treat myself to some boxes. Results are below.. overall, I guess they were alright.. but (and I know we all say this).. I think I'm done breaking boxes for quite awhile. This was about a grand that could've been spent better elsewhere!
Here we go!
I'm a sucker for Leaf/ITG stuff as I'm a Kingston Frontenacs (OHL) collector... I haven't opened any UD Ice in awhile and it's always been a favorite.. and I thought I'd splurge on a box of Splendor.
I started with the UD Ice, and now I remember why I had shied away from it.. despite enjoying the acetate designs. This box was pretty much a bust in my opinion...
Next I opened the Leaf Metal.. hoping for some Frontenacs... didn't hit any PC cards, but can't argue with a 1/1 Esposito auto'd plate.. and the Eichel was a good hit, even if it is a redemption...
So then it was onto the second chance to hit some Fronts PC stuff with the H&P box. Wasn't so lucky as to find a keeper but it's always nice to hit a McDavid, and the two patches are nice looking as well...
ITG Used was up next.. mostly hoping for some Leafs vintage. I was pretty worried when the card on top was a single color Berard swatch.. but I was happy by the end of the box. As a Leafs fan, the Clark is a beauty and may be a keeper unless something super nice is offered in trade...
Now for the big roll of the dice.... Splendor. I still have mixed feelings about this break... I wasn't impressed with the Hischier base card as obviously I was hoping for a whopper... but the extra "card" (redemption) somewhat made up for it I guess. Overall, I got my moneys worth so to speak... but I'm still kind of wishing I didn't do it!
Well... that's it for another year! We'll see if I hold true to my plan of not busting boxes for a long while or if the urge to gamble overtakes me yet again. In the meantime, all of the above are available FT/FS... via PM only, please!
