I redeemed this one at the beginning of last year, still waiting. Does anyone know if Jones is signing for UD? Any insight or opinion is valued. Thanks

I honest to God did not know that card existed before this post.

UD has been pretty good with all the other MMA guys, but it's hard to say. Jones has been signing regularly for Topps and his autographs (even redemptions) are always fulfilled there...so there's no problem with his signing habits. I'm assuming his contract with UD must've fallen through at this point

Thanks for the info, now I need to figure out my next step. If a redemption isn't going to be made, doesn't UD update your account with that info? If so, do they ask who you collect for a replacement first? I don't collect MMA/UFC so the last thing I want is for them to send out a replacement without contacting me first.

Yeah if the redemption isn't going to be made, they will tell you it wasn't made and to call CS. At least that's how it used to be. I legit haven't had an Upper Deck Redemption to worry about for the last 5 years. They might just proactively send out replacements now for all I know :)

Just my advice - If you don't collect MMA at all and don't want the card, I'd just ask for a replacement ASAP. UD's MMA autographs (especially the Goodwin ones) are fairly unpopular on the secondary market amongst MMA collectors, so you probably won't see that much of an ROI. I assume the book value for the card is still pretty high though, so you may get a better replacement package in return.

UPDATE:

I noticed a couple weeks ago the status had updated to shipped on the Jones. I was pretty excited considering it had almost been 2 years. Today, I received this and a standard letter from UD apologizing for the Jones not being made. The Bench is available FS/FT

The Jones is listed as a Group C (1 in 339 packs) The Bench is listed as Group A (1 in 1,577 packs) I can't say I'm too disappointed as Bench is Group A and HOF'er. I do wish UD would have informed me online the card was not being made so I could have contacted them and gave them some names. I have been on the phone a few times with them recently about another issue and they did not mention anything about it. Oh well....I would like to hear some of your opinions on this. :corn:

I missed this originally when you posted it, but -- it's a fair tradeoff. I would take a certified UD Johnny Bench auto over a certified UD Jon Jones auto (and I only collect MMA too) for the simple reason that UD's MMA market isn't all that strong since the cards aren't "certified" UFC cards.

It would be like pulling a Sidney Crosby autograph from a Leaf Sports product. There will be some market for it, but not much since it's not an NHL or hockey product. That Jones would probably net you maybe $30-35 tops if you took it to eBay, even in its hardsigned nature.

This was the first experience I've had with UD in regards to a redemption replacement. Im disappointed the Jones was not made, but thems the breaks. It was a fair replacement IMHO....the Bench has a lot of views and watchers on eBay right now so I'm guessing it's pretty rare with an opening bid @ $99.99 :corn:
