Anyone here buy off beckett marketplace??

I've had hit and misses there, but for the most part, it's worked out well for me.

Misses = occasionally the bigger storefronts or those who do eBay based off Beckett listing's will have sold something before the Beckett order goes thru.

Will they usually combine shipping? I'm trying to find shipping prices but some aren't showing. Just don't want to buy and have $5 shipping on $1 cards

Just put them into the cart, and you should be able to track shipping charges that way.

Bought there several times. Shipping costs do get out of hand Internationally (automatically due to the system) when ordering several cards though.

Only ever had one problem, seller sent wrong card to me. one email later they sent me the card at no charge and I was able to keep the wrong card. nothing huge just some insert card but still a nice gesture to make it right.

Just really watch out on how fast the shipping adds up on some stores as you add more cards to your cart.

I've bought from there a bunch of times. Great for filling in player PC's. You can run a search for free shipping, or some dealers offer free shipping depending on the amount you buy.

I've made several purchases from there over the past few years without any problems. In fact, I just bought something late last week and it already arrived yesterday.

Good for filling stuff from the low-end wantlists. There's some bad dealers over there, but you won't have problems with most of them.

To echo most of the previous posts I have made many bulk low end purchases and never had a problem.Occasionally even a bigger card pos up at a decent price.

I have before, but not since leaving the Beckett Forums for here. Its not like I had any bad experiences, but I'm kinda lazy.

The biggest problem I had (several times a few years ago) was finding a dealer with say 10 or more cards I wanted, then paying for them, only to get an email a few days later saying "sorry, but we don't have 4 of the 10 cards". The only way it was feasible for me to purchase the usually overpriced cards was to knock off many wants at one time, only to have them usually not come through for me in the end. Perhaps it has changed. I haven't even seen the Beck...(I can't write it) marketplace in a long long time.

I bought some older wax from a dealer over there a while back...twas a fun break, but I wouldn't buy from them again given their prices.

The thing that irritates me the most are the number of stores who do not keep their inventory up-to-date. Chicago Cards has had a copy of the UM2 Leafs Retro Teammates that I need posted in their store for at least 2 years now...I've contacted them twice about it, and they say that they no longer have the card, yet it is still listed in their store...:foottap:

As a BMP'er I would like to reply to this thread to explain some of the happenings

This is probably my biggest issue. I will get an order on Ebay or vice versa and I will not have a chance to remove it from the other site before it sells. I try to replace the card either way, but sometimes it is not easy to do and then I have to refund the money. This happens very rarely, but this is the biggest issue that I have.

What I suggest doing (and this is how I shop the BMP) is that if I find a card that I need, AND there are a significant quantity listed on the site, I put one of each card from each dealer in my cart. I do not know how many times I have seen a card that cost $.25 on the BMP only be ruined by a dealer charging $3.57 for S/H. I think I have one of the more reasonable S/H charges on the BMP, $2.23 to Canada and $2.47 to the US. Once I find the dealer that has the best overall price with shipping I go to their storefront (you can click on their name in your shopping cart) and see what else they have.

You are correct, it is all due to the weight structure of each card. Each card on the site defaults to .3 OZ. You can order two cards W/O the shipping costs going up. If you order 5 cards the S/H goes up again. This kills international orders for me because who is going to pay close to $5.00 for 6 cards? I mean besides Ebay where I see some sellers charging $4.00 for the first card and $1.00 for each additional card :owned:

The minimum free shipping threashold is $50.00 no matter what the dealer. We have options to exclude/include options. Beckett will not allow dealers to set their own free shipping guidelines. So if you find a dealer that offers free shipping (it will give you a total on your shopping cart as to how far away you are from the free shipping threashold) you have to hit $50.00.

Andy - Please forward the names of all dealers you had issues with to [email protected]. As with any site there are always a few bad apples.

I never brought from beckett marketplace before. I do not like the shipping cost. I had about about less than $3 worth of cards in my cart and the shipping was $12.
