It lasted all of 3 minutes on eBay. As I was getting ready to hit BIN, it said it sold to someone else. Just curious to who on here (if anyone) got the steal of a lifetime?

Hey,

Before I start some flame war, I'll just come out and admit it. I ended up hitting the Buy-It-Now. I guess right place at the right time. Was it a steal of a lifetime, absolutely not. Was it a fair price...absolutely. For someone who is VERY familiar with singles from a previous ITG Vezina 1/1 set, I've purchased or handled a very large amount of those singles. I felt comfortable with the asking price on this card. I think it will make a nice addition to my collection.

I hope the seller is happy with his price, as it was listed as a BIN or BO option. So I gave him the higher spectrum of what he was looking for.

Cheers,

I beg to differ. If other, "lesser" names are going with Vezina from this set for $600-1100, Broda, who has many less memorabilia cards out there (and the huge Leafs following) will probably command a higher premium than most in the set. You may have gotten bigger steals but I feel that the seller could have gotten no less than double by selling it at auction.

Bloody awesome buy, dude...

Eli, congratulations on acquiring such a fantastic card! It fits your collection perfectly. Also, it's a good deal for both you and the seller, as you are comfortable with the price , and the seller got 100% of his asking price. This is a win-win for both parties, especially since the card will go into a great collection.

The older set you discussed was a great set, and it is great that In the Game created another Vezina Winners set. For the ones I have in my collection, I got some great deals too, but others I had to pay more than I originally hoped. The most important thing, as I hope it is in your case, is that both sides are happy. Since we know the seller's asking price, I assume that is the case here as well.

Hey,

Dont want to completely take this thread off topic. As the intial question was if anyone knew who won this auction? But I just wanted to go over a few things.

I beg to differ. If other, "lesser" names are going with Vezina from this set for $600-1100, Broda, who has many less memorabilia cards out there (and the huge Leafs following) will probably command a higher premium than most in the set. I am not too sure where you got some of those sale numbers (for example, $1,100).
Obviously there can be private sales of item(s) off of eBay that are not widely
publicized or known, but from what I have seen-and I've followed these since day
1-the highest price paid for one of these was Pelle Lindberg, which sold for $799.99
BIN.

We all know that the "first" of something online always goes for more. Again, maybe
not a true reflection of actual demand, since it was not live at auction. But since that
sale, all the others have sold for lower prices, as we are now able to see the accepted "Best
Offer" on completed sales. So I know none have sold for more on eBay than the
Lindbergh.

You are absolutely right with your statement about available GU pieces. Broda does
infact likely have less memorabilia cards than several of the other players in the
Vezina set. But honestly, I have followed this market (vintage game-used) for the past
several years, and can tell you that, even though he played for the Leafs, his
game-used item(s) do not sell for stupid amounts. Not sure why, but they just do not

On cards like these, the selling point is primarily due to the Vezina game-used
piece, since his memorablia is so limited. In my case, I collect numerous high-end
vintage pieces, so this fits nicely in my collection.

Regarding your last statement, I honestly do not know what this would have sold for
live at auction. But I highly doubt getting $800 is realistic.
Not knowing the outcome is obviously the biggest gamble of listing an item in an
auction format. This is likely why the seller opted to use the BIN/BO feature, since
he gained control of how much he received for the card.

Hypothetically, What happens if this card only went for $350 at auction? While we do
not know the advice he received before listing this card, with the control he gained
with a BIN/BO format, he was comfortable with his asking price. I do not know how
low he would have gone on the card, but I am certain he is pleased with me hitting
the Buy it Now since that is what he determined to be his desired price. In the end,
this deal achieves a key goal of this hobby: a seller got what he asked for, and I
as a collector get to add a great card to my collection at a price I consider a
very good deal.

Cheers,

I only wanted to tell that memorabilia cards with Georges Vezina usually sells very well.
As example a 00-01 BAP Memorabilia Georges Vezina with Tom Barrasso was sold at last year for $300 (now that's a full BV!) at ebay and the card is nowhere near to be considered as a 1/1 card plus is just a single memorabilia card.

Those Stickwork Vezinas got double memorabilias on those cards plus a pack of Stickwork is much more expensive than BAP Memorabilia so I think that $400 is a very good price with those goalies especially when both is from MTL and TOR, also don't forget that Vezina's pads is almost 100 years old (or is?)!
