Recently decided to sell one of my two Pavel Datsyuk autographed game used rookie sticks. I decided to go with Gamewornauctions.net after having little luck selling it myself privately. Anyone have any luck with their consignment service? Already sent the stick in and the auction begins in November. Entire thing was treated very nonchalant. No contract, etc.

I had a number of jerseys and such that I kicked the tires on consigning - after calling and discussing the process and fees I decided against it.

I am sure there are items that make it well worth going through these auction houses for exposure, comfort and ease of use however I am not convinced that it is beneficial for the more run of the mill items.

I have no idea what you were looking to get for the Datsyuk stick on the open market but this one sold for $214 -

I would imagine you will be in that same ballpark less their fees.

I kind of had the same reservations as yourself. A big one being the fee but when you take into consideration that with ebay/paypal you could lose 20% off the top I figured I would give it a shot. Another big issue with this stick in particular was the lack of COA. I know its real, an expert knows its real but to the common bidder its questionable without one. I know its real since I can compare it directly to a stick with a Detroit Red Wings COA, of the same model, year and autograph.

I am slightly concerned with visibility on their site. I'm not sure how many hits their auctions usually receive but it seems like the go to place for the big players. Also along with similar fees, I won't have to deal with the very real possibility of getting ripped off by an ebay buyer.

I am certainly hoping to get a bit more than $214 for the stick. $300 IMO would be a disaster.

Thanks for the reply.

I have sold 4 jerseys through Gamewornauctions, and I had positive experiences each time. As soon as they receive payment for the item your are sent your check. I don't think there is a concern with visibility. Best of luck selling the Datsyuk stick wherever you decide.

Its a gamble.
I just lost out bigtime on my first consignment that was with Classic. Its a crap shoot. If Datyuk is super hot at the time and there are a couple of people that want it then it will do well. If hes not and only one person wants it......well you lose.
Auction house may be the way to go if no LOA however because they have to stand behind what they sell.
Good luck

I have watched a few sticks on there go way high like Brent seabrook at $700??. While Steve Yzerman ends at $250. It will all depend on who see's it. If Pavel is on fire at the time of the auction who knows. What kind of percent do they take by the way? If you don't mind me asking that is. Good luck with the auction either way!

I believe it is 15-20%. From my perspective, its still cheaper than trying to find someone to authenticate it. I've considered just putting the stick on eBay with a $1000 BIN make offer but eBay goes out their way these days to screw over sellers.

Also, I figured I would add that I only said $300 would be disapointing because I have watched the market waiting for a third Datsyuk rookie stick to pop up for years. They're just no where to be found at this point. It seems like the incredibly common sticks, 9K0 2008 onward usually get $250-$300, autographed or not.

GWauctions typical consignment fee is 10% for jerseys (assume similar for sticks?) plus $25 for the write-up and photos of the item. I've consigned and sold many jerseys through them and never had an issue.

Actually Bobby that sounds very familiar. I believe that fee structure is exactly the same for sticks.
