The League should do something to make the game itself more meaningful and bring some actual competition back into it. I hate to say it but I like how MLB throws home advantage in the playoffs into the mix. Not sure how the NHL would swing that with a different league structure etc than baseball. Something down that road might be worth considering. It makes the game worth playing with intensity for the players and as a result, much more entertaining for the fans.

MLB doesn't do that anymore. I'm enjoying watching it, more to see the guys have a good time, and seeing the skill when they show it. I sure as heck don't want to see the star of my team hurt in an exhibition game with some quasi incentive to it that affects their playoff hopes. It's fine the way it is to me.

I really enjoyed it this year. The skill level on display was incredible, and as mentioned, it was great to see what somebody who flies under the radar (like Brock Boeser or Jack Eichel) can do when complimented with world class linemates.
Generally I despise Brad Marchand, and I believe that his suspension should have been mandatory for the ASG as well, but kudos to him for playing his bad guy image to the fans. And I gotta give him credit, the overselling the trip and hi-stick was pretty damn funny.
And that Kucherov goal? FILTHY. As a goalie I can tell you exactly what was going through Holtby's mind as soon as it went in. It was awesome.

I was over at my folks house after the Dave & Adams card show. I kept thinking who got the idea to have the NFL Pro-Bowl and the NHL All-Star game on the same day, around the same time, and both in Florida, less than 100 miles apart?
On other notes, loved seeing Jack-Jack Eichel playing with guys who play at his level and speed. I lost it over the celly!! I also tried so hard to wish that goal in for Mike Smith..

$100,000 each to the winning team isn't enough of an incentive to get them to go all out. Maybe $500,000 each would be enough. I'm sure the guys still on their entry level contracts would put on a good show for that much.

1. Get rid of the divisional mini-game format and go back to East v. West or NA v. World.
2. Make the ASG the annual outdoor game.
3. Dial back the Skills Comp. They just keep adding random, frivolous events to drag it out for the ad dollars. Pick 4 or 5 events (fastest skater, hardest shot, accuracy, breakaway challenge, and goalie full rink shots because I like it) and call it a day.
4. No incentives. Being selected an AS should be considered an honour and privilege, not an opportunity. If players don't want to play let them take their one game suspension and give the spot to someone who wants to be there.

I enjoyed it, certainly better than the past 20 years. I loved the old orange Campbell jerseys but didn’t mind the ones this year. Someone need to tell Jack Eichel that a 4 minute shift is too long. He kept staying out especially in 3 on 3 style games, bugged me lol he cost them several goals. Overall I thought it was good. I wish the NBA would do something with their AS game, now that has run its course and needs change.
