As a HOF buyer, I'm not much in the market for rookies, although I do keep regular tabs on some of the higher end ones. These ones seem a bit high to me though, but I may be out to lunch. I buy memorabilia from Classic Auctions and they had three Cup rookies I watched in their auction that closed last night. Someone with deeper pockets than mine bid these up to the following:

Crosby Cup 3 colour BGS 9 RPA $58,888 US
Ovechkin Cup 4 colour BGS9 RPA $23,546 US
McDavid Cup 3 colour BGS 9.5 RPA $30,216 US

These final prices are inclusive of the bidding premium of 19.5%. Here are the links of the final bids before premiums were added:

Is it just me who thinks these prices are crazy high, or am I that out of touch these days?

Yup those are very high. You can buy a 3 colour Ovi Cup off Craig for 4500 US right now.

This Ovechkin is a four color and perhaps the nicest one. 3 color copies are much easier to find.

A McDavid PSA 10 sold for $30K, so this is reasonable for a BGS 9.5

Finally, the Crosby might be the nicest patch of his as well.

Not surprising overall when you consider the competition for the top patches and grades.

Classics brings out some much higher-dollar hockey bidders than ebay and the like. I used to bid against Patrick Roy on there back in the day.
