Afternoon all,

As always I am looking for Hockey items on the net and came across these.

Example 1

Example 2

Example 3

Is this legal? I dont know it just seems wrong to me. I know they are certified an all that stuff. But it just seems odd to me. But I suppose it there was some Labarbera cards like this I would probably buy them. lol

IMO It is not that much different from when companies offer buyback cards. As long as the autos are legit, I don't see much of a problem with it.

It is not like they cut up a piece of the jersey and put it in the slab.

You can buy a picture, puck or jersey get it autographed and sell it for more, so there is no reason you couldn't do the same with a hockey card.

My best,

Ken

If Shop NHL is selling it them yeah... A rip cause it's not a serial numbered card, but think of the ones that have been signed and total number of cards out there which are still in original shape. 16 in stock, means -16 out there which are true now lol

Although the Corey Perry auto is legit on the Rookie Threads card, that is how he signs his signature now, but if you recall he had a much different auto in his rookie year (more of a CP). For me personally, that would bother the heck out of me if I owned that card. LOL!!

NHL.com is in the business of making money, so not surprised they'd pimp these cards.

Is it allowed? In terms of getting cards signed, slapping a case on them, and putting them up for sale, I can't see any reason any company couldn't do that... but it's an interesting question when it comes to the NHL themselves selling them - I'd imagine UD wouldn't be too thrilled, they're paying the NHL (presumably) a decent chunk of change to be the exclusive manufacturer of hockey cards, and the NHL turns around and piggy-backs off of UD products to enhance them and pocket the profits... Unless there's a specific clause in the agreement between UD and the NHL that prevents it then the NHL should be in the clear to do it.

hummm...I think something is wrong with this but then again, if you can take any base cards and have it sign, I guess anyone can do the same with jersey cards.
but IMO, an official NHLPA release, should not be altered.

I don't see anything wrong with it... If you own a card, you can do whatever you please with it.

Its your job as a buyer to be informed, and just buy what you like, and conversely don't buy what you don't like.

Most people don't like stuff like this or stamped cards or whatever, and that is perfectly fine. That's why there is a wide variety of sets released each year. Theres something for everyone.
