Ok well a few weeks ago I won the 01/02 BAP SS Messier auto #XLMM from ebay and I made a thread about it. At the same time I promised that once it arrived I would show off scans of my Messier autograph collection. Well it arrived on Friday, so here's my post:

I'll start off with a card that isn't an autograph but arrived in the mail the same day as the BAP SS one, and I paid a fair price for something with no scan and limited to only 8 copies :D

The next card was the first Messier auto I ever got and remains to this day one of my favorites, simply because of the design of that set. If the checklist didn't include cards of Orr, Howe, Gretzky and the rest garbage players, I would take a stab at it... but I won't. :) Book value on this card is only 60, but it's easily one of his nicest and affordable autos if you are looking to pick one up. Definitely underrated.

This next card is a rare one but also really sweet. Another set with a great design, large picture and a decent window with lots of signing space. Another great looking set, but extremely large checklist.

The next two are from the same set, but awesome cards. Probably one of the nicest auto/jersey designs ever made by Upper Deck. The Canadian Hero card was picked up by a local dealer who gave me a nice deal, and the evolve /50 was grabbed from ebay through a seller who ended an auction early for me (the only time I ever tried!) and gave me a "steal" on that card. I believe I only paid $75 including insured shipping! They look really nice together. :D

00/01 Upper Deck Evolve Prizes GJ/Auto BV60??? I think that's a liiiittle bit undervalued... Clint if you are watching... *shakes fist* ;)

This next one is just a scan of the card already mentioned above that came in the mail this last week. I definitely paid way less than I think it should have gone for so that makes me pretty happy. :)

The last single auto is probably one of my favorites as well. I picked it up just before Christmas and paid full book for it. It just so happens it was my first Messier auto in an Oilers jersey. The design on these cards is awesome. It didn't scan as well as I thought it would, but you'll just have to take my word for it - it's nicer in person! :D

And last but certainly not least is the best of them all. One of this hobby's holy grails if you will. I must thank the person who got this for me and allowed me to have the opportunity to pick this up. I'm not sure if he wants me to reveal who he is but I'll edit this if he allows it. This is hands down the best card in my collection and it won't ever leave it. Without further ado, I present to you:

Thanks for taking the time to look at my collection! Now back to our regular scheduled programming! :D

Comments appreciated and welcomed! It may be a loooooong time before I ever am able to make a post I feel it is worthy enough to top this one so make it count! :)

Thanks,
Matt

Matt

Nice to see ya make a post!

Sweet Bejeesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing the pics of your "Moose!" Auto collection! :D

As for the H.I. member who helped ya to snag the triple!

HHMMMMMMMMM!!!! Let me have a think on that... My guess is the initials R.F.

Brian

Awesome collection!
Would you be willing to trade it for a truckfull of Lays potato chips? ;)

Sweet lewt!

Wesley :D

Matt -- The triple is nice, but I'm more impressed with the Pearson auto. Those are impossible to find!

What to say? Hmmmm. How about a standing ovation, or a tip of the cap. Well you get the idea. Not that you would ever sell any of them, but Messier Autos have been steadily climbing on the bay. Looks like the hobby is finally going to give Mess the respect he deserves. Thanks so much for sharing, and doing the scans. Mike

Matt.....

With those eight cards, I've now realized what I need to focus my Messier-hunting on..You have a very impressive collection, thanks for sharing!! :D

Adrienne

Mark, thanks, I don't think I'll ever get a card that even comes close to being as good as the triple. :D

Brian, I think you may be on to something ;)

Wes, not even Messier himself could get these cards away from me :)

Chris, if you're just looking to pick up one of his autos, I suggest the Signs of Xcellence as you can get them cheaper than all the rest of his certified autos. Except for the 96/97 BAP auto, but I have yet to find one of those where the ink isn't bubbly.

Bruce, thanks! :)

Andre, when I first got the card I was speechless also. I just sorta held it in my hand and stared at it. :)

Diablo, I also like the triple you have, I think my dad would prefer that one. His favorite players are Wayne Gretzky and Jari Kurri. :)

Ryan, that's the reason I paid full book for it. I've never seen one before in the last 3 years on ebay. It also doesn't have a certificate of authenticity on the back. Not sure if anybody would have pulled one and not realized that it was actually autographed, but who knows. My guess is probably not, but they are tough to find either way. Thanks again ;)

Mike, having your appreciation for my collection is an honor. You have a gorgeous collection of Rangers yourself, I could only imagine how great your Messier collection would be if you focused yourself on him. Thank you :)

Vik, I too love the UD Logos patch. I took a fairly big risk spending nearly $200 on it without seeing a scan, but I am more than happy with how it turned out. I figured if I didn't get it into this auto post, nobody would ever see it. I'm glad you like it! :)

Adrienne, I must say that it is much more enjoyable for me to grab a Messier auto now than it is to get anything else. But really you should stay away from the Messier autos, as the competition is fierce enough already! :p Thanks for your comments, it always feels good to hear nice things from another Messier collector :)

Thanks,
Matt
