Bit of a quiet time lately, but as the new season has already started, let's get these cards acquired between August and October out of the way.

1979-80 Hershey Bears Team Photo (AHL)

I bought this photo due to a fellow Finn, Antero Lehtonen, standing in the 2nd row all the way to the right. He only played one North American season and mainly spent it with the Capitals (65 games and 21 points). He has a team issue with the Capitals, but I was surprised to see him in this Bears team photo as he only appeared for them in 4 games, scoring 3 goals.
Claude Noel - Eddy Godin - Jay Johnston - Steve Clippingdale from the photo are players who made it to NHL but never got into any cards as a player (Noel and Johnston have cards as coach).

1992-93 Kansas City Blades - The Jones Store Co. (IHL)
(Jeff Sharples)

This was the first season for Jeff Sharples in the IHL. Prior to this he had played 3 seasons in the NHL and 6 seasons in the AHL. He went onto play 7 more seasons in the IHL. His best season production wise came in 1994-95 playing for the Las Vegas Thunder. He scored 20 goals and added 33 assists in 72 games.

Needed: None.

1993-94 Kansas City Blades - The Jones Store Co. (IHL)
(Kip Miller)

Kip Miller was more than a point per game player in both the AHL and IHL levels. He had 327 points in 326 AHL games and 579 points 468 IHL games. He also played parts of 13 different seasons (between 1990 and 2004) in the NHL acquiring 239 points in 449 games. Only need 3 more cards from the Kansas City Blades now, they are all from the 1995-96 set.

Needed: None.

1997-98 Saint John Flames (AHL)
(Hnat Domenichelli)

Really not sure why this set is so difficult to obtain. Still need quite a few cards here. Hnat Domenichelli was the leading goal scorer for the AHL Flames during this season, registering 33 goals in only 48 games. He also scored 9 times in 31 games for the Calgary Flames in NHL during 97-98.

Needed: Travis Brigley, Jeff Cowan, Jean-Sebastien Giguere, Eric Landry, Tyler Moss, John Tripp.

1999-00 Milwaukee Admirals - Keebler (IHL)
(Corey Hirsch)

Another difficult set, these cards came as a perforated sheet. Hirsch only played 4 games for the NY Rangers, but I will always think of him as a Ranger due to all those early 90s sets that I used to collect as a kid.

Needed: Phil Crowe, Jason Dawe, David Gosselin, Paul Healey, Dan Keczmer.

2001-02 Hamilton Bulldogs 8x10 (AHL)
(Jussi Markkanen)

This Jussi Markkanen 8x10 has been on my want list for ages. Very nice set of game sheets the Bulldogs produced during this and few other seasons.
Jussi only played 4 games for the Bulldogs (and in AHL overall) so he does not have any other AHL cards. At the age of 42 he is still playing in the Finnish Elite league (although injured at the moment).

Needed: None

2005-06 Hershey Bears - The Patriot-News (AHL)
(J-F. Fortin)

This was Fortin's final North American season before he headed to play in Europe. He is currently the Assistant Coach for the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the QMJHL.

Needed: Colin Forbes.

24190761578_97343ba62c_o.jpg

2005-06 Portland Pirates - U.S. Cellular (AHL)
(Aaron Gavey, Pierre Parenteau)

P.A. Parenteau is currently without a team after the Red Wings released him from PTO on the 1st of October this year.

Needed: Dieter Kochan, Shane O'Brien.

2005-06 Rochester Americans - 50th Anniversary Set (AHL)
(Al Arbour)

Somehow I still missed this Al Arbour card from his time with the Amerks. He played for them during 5 different seasons between his time with the Maple Leafs.

Needed: None.

26266585839_b52b32735a_o.jpg

2006-07 Hartford Wolf Pack - Kids Club/Brigham's Ice Cream (AHL)
(Brad Isbister)

Brad Isbister spent most of his career in the NHL (541 games) and only appeared in 2 IHL and 63 AHL games. The 2006-07 was actually the season where he made most of his AHL appearances, playing in 43 games for the Albany Devils and the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Needed: Brandon Dubinsky.

24190764118_47b4363afc_o.jpg

2007-08 Hershey Bears - The Patriot-News (AHL)
(Josef Boumedienne)

Boumedienne was born in Sweden to Algerian father and Finnish mother. He chose to represent Sweden internationally, but has a dual Finnish citizenship.

Needed: None.

24190763868_fccf478ba9_o.jpg

2007-08 Philadelphia Phantoms - Choice Marketing (AHL)
(Brian Boucher)

Apart from 6 games for the San Antonio Rampage, Boucher always played for Phantoms in the AHL. Philadelphia Phantoms 1997-2000 and 2007-2008 and Adirondack Phantoms 2009-10 and 2012-13.

Needed: None.

Don't think there are too many Young Guns with players depicted with AHL teams. Let me know if you can think of any?
Don Cherry is not really part of my usual collecting as he appeared in NHL only during the Original Six era, but couldn't resist this YG AHL card when I had the chance to get it on the cheap.

And a special bonus section for the AHL Hall of Fame Class of 2018

He has a few NHL cards, but the above Providence Reds card from the 1955-56 Calder Cup Commemorative Set (released last year) is his only AHL card.
191 games in the NHL, all in the Original Six era.

Don Biggs
Springfield Indians, Nova Scotia Oilers, Hershey Bears, Rochester Americans, Binghamton Rangers

Biggs holds the AHL single season points record with 138 (54g, 84a) which he recorded during the 1992-93 season with the Binghamton Rangers.
He also appeared in 12 NHL games and 486 IHL games.

26266584439_ba98ea1ecf_o.jpg

Brian Kilrea
Springfield Indians, Springfield Kings, Rochester Americans
AHL Totals (10 Seasons, 1959-1969) 623 171+453=624 242PIM

Brian Kilrea doesn't appear to have any cards as a player, but has several from his coaching years.
Brian also played 1 NHL game for the Red Wings and 25 for the Kings.

24190762618_018b3c60ef_o.jpg

Glenn Merkosky
Binghamton Whalers, Maine Mariners, Adirondack Red Wings
AHL Totals (10 Seasons, 1980-1991) 737 325+353=678 420PIM

Merkosky's most productive season was the 1986-87 season when he scored 54 goals for the Adirondack Red Wings.
He also played 66 NHL games, registering 17 points.

Thanks for the comments all :-)

Love seeing your additions what criteria do you use for adding cards is it all ihl and ahhl team issues?

I do collect NHL team issues as well, but I still need to get more organised on that side. Maybe do a show and tell one day!

The NHL Team Issues would be cool to see. Always fun to see what rare sets have been created that a lot of collectors may not even know about! Good stuff.
