This - when the Oilers hold their annual sale - it serves several purposes - to get their cost out of gear that they had over the last season - you are able to buy a lot of gear, a fair bit of it which is brand new, at a bit over the team's cost - in previous years, you were able to buy new helmets, gloves, pant shells, shoes and apparel. They have made game used sticks available throughout the year at their souvenir stands for certain games before going into the building. They have also made a lot of GU equipment available as well at this time - again to get their money out of stuff that some will be collected. Whatever usually remains gets sent over to Totem Outfitters as surplus.
They also clear out the just ended season's inventory of fan gear which will be obsolete come September. And three - they also use it as an opportunity to sell ticket packages.
