avs ink Tucker

Still makes no financial sense that the Leafs bought him out. They are willing to pay $2 million a season for him NOT to play while another team will pay him $2.25 million to play.

Great. Sideshow Bob on the Avs. I guess they were pining for the days of Claude Lemieux's incessant cheap shots.

They pay him $1M a year not to play, for 6 years.

So paying him $1M, instead of $3M (the contract) works out as such:

08-09: Save $2M
09-10: Save $2M
10-11: Save $2M
--------------contract would have expired.
11-12: Lose $1M
12-13: Lose $1M
13-14: Lose $1M

Each of those years they only pay him $1M buy out- so they are saving large the initial 3 years. By 11-12 the cap should be at $65M+. Basically, at the end of the day they save more money and cap space than they lose.

No, but how much fun will it be to see Voros destroy him regularly?

IMO, Voros is a terrible fighter. He tries, but it doesn't really work out for him. I'll say I'm not sad to see him go. He used to get stupid penalties a lot. Don't worry, though, Stephane Veilleux has become a bit of an agitator himself. It will get spicy!

Wow, this has to be one of those signings that has AV's fans scratching the ol' dome........

As a lifelong Avs and Nords fan I like this move. I'm not gonna sit here and worry about the money that's the Avs problem. Same thing with Theo. Didn't care what he was making only that he produces. Only time will tell though.
