As the title indicates I took something of a break part way through last season and just started lurking around and making the odd card purchase during the Christmas period. Time was not something I had a lot of last year with work priorities and finishing up my MBA at night. That wasn't the only thing though, in all honesty I didn't miss it as much as I thought I would. That said I've been very interested in everything going on since I started paying attention again, so obviously I just needed a break.
I've been back on the boards for the past couple of weeks, and already have organized some nice deals, so it's back to full swing, and I thought I should at least "reannounce" myself here.
As some of you may remember I used to collect Havlat, Hossa, Spezza and Kurri while also working on the odd set, and collecting Team Canada inserts etc. here and there. With Hossa leaving the Sens last year I considered dropping him but didn't. This year now that Havlat has also left the team and with so much to buy, I've decided to cut off collecting those two as of the end of their last seasons with the team. So that said I will be trying to finish off Havlat up to the end of 05-06 and Hossa to the end of 04-05. That also means that I've got some very nice Hossa stuff from the first half of 05-06 that's heading to my tradelist. Main reason for at least trying to finish those years is my OCD completionist, coupled with the fact that while I may be able to sell the high end stuff, I'll never be able to get rid of the mid-low end at a reasonable rate (of course if someone wants to buy a very complete Hossa or Havlat collection, I may consider it).
So now the focus is Spezza/Kurri, and I'm also working on last year's SPx (yes I'm insane), and last year's Ultra including inserts and GU. I've also got a couple of Team Canada sets on my wantlist and intend to be adding to that throughout the year.
Speaking of lists, for now my wantlist is up to date on my website (www.freshcollectibles.com), the tradelist is fairly accurate (as I've made very few deals since last updating), but I'll be adding all of my recent pickups to it in the next couple of weeks.
Finally because of my absence over the past 10 months, I'll likely be dropping some questions on the board about print runs/parallels etc of all of the sets that I missed so I at least know what I'm looking for on my wantlist.
For anybody that stuck around this long, thanks for the long read, and look forward to working out a deal with you in the future.
