Beckett has adjusted the BV of the OPC card to $1500-$2500 (from $400-$800) and the Topps to $400-$1000 (from $250-$550).

Will update on their OPG at midnight tonight, so you are hearing it here first!

Proud to say this resulted after discussing the card with Eric Norton of Beckett on Sports Cards Live on Saturday night and he just texted me to advise.

I think these new BV's accurately reflect the value of this card based on how they sell.

They also adjusted the BV on the McDavid Young Guns from $200-$300 to $400-$650 right before we went live on Saturday based on our discussions and market reality.

Pretty cool to be able to be part of the discussions!

It is nice to see them responding to some market changes, but it would be nice to see this on more then just a couple of high value cards. I understand it would be nearly impossible to adjust all cards.

Very cool that SCL was a part of this change though.

They are looking at some other cards too. Yzerman and Lemieux confirmed, not sure which others but I have to think they will expand the list.

Agreed!

Glad to see SCL making an impact like that. Small, but mighty.

guess I won't be picking one up at beckett value anymore from the few dealers who swore by that! lol, glad to see the change reflect the market

That’s awesome, I was just explaining to some friends about why the older cards don’t get updated, now I can say that yes, some of them are being updated

Does it bother anyone that a leading pricing authority did not have a firm grasp - or almost any grasp - on the price of two of the most important cards in the hockey hobby? I think it's really cool that the show got it changed, but this disconnect concerns me.

No, because most people dont consider them to be the leading price authority.

Just curious, somene who has access to the online beckett price guide, did they also increase the set price to show this change in the significant card from that set?

1979-80 O-Pee-Chee #18 Wayne Gretzky UER RC/80 GP not 60

What does this mean?

UER stands for "Uncorrected Error". The error is that the card lists 60 GP when he actually played in 80.

If this were corrected, there would be a Correct and Error versions of the card. And the value of each would depend on where they were in the production before the original changed.

Thanks for that info, I never noticed that it was an UER before.
Cheers.
Dan.
