Just a question.
Has anyone here heard the rumor about Beckett being in trouble any maybe going out of business?

First I've heard as well, I know Canadian Sportscollector (or whatever it was last called) went out of business, but I haven't heard anything on Beckett. Wouldn't surprise me too much if they were experiencing trouble, because of the economy and all. But I haven't heard anything on this.

First I've heard of it, but I wouldn't be surprised. From about January 2007 to September 2008 I didn't miss an issue (of Beckett Hockey MONTHLY). Since they changed the mag, and the website, I hardly ever go on their site, and I never buy the mag. It's just a rip off now, with no value whatsoever.
I am seeing stacks of them left on the shelves at hobby stores, where they used to run out. I do remember them letting go of some staff a while back as well, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were in pretty deep right now.

I heard recently that Apprise Media sold Beckett Media (which they bought from Jim Beckett) to a company called Eli Research. Eli does NOT have a good reputation in the publications world, and has done some shady things to force people to pay for subscriptions they never ordered. There has actually been a few court cases about it as well.

Anyways, Eli apparently laid off more people at Beckett and has move publications and customer service to India and the Philippines, in order to cut costs. What this does for the publications is anyone's guess, but it ain't good... honestly, how much do people in India know about ice hockey? Perhaps the goal is to have a new group of publications, like Beckett Soccer... Beckett Cricket... Beckett Lawn Tennis?

Time will tell. In anticipation of the downfall... get your Insider's Edge subscriptions!!! :D

Insider's Edge subscriptions all the way !!!!!!!!!

Maybe one day we can have a real price guide in it that makes a little bit better sense then beckets crap
