I was just checking the OPG for the 2004-05 H & P set. I am kinda surprised as usual by some of the book values for some of the Autos and Memoribilia cards. Has anybody else checked out the BV's of the cards? Comments are appreciated.

Beckett is useless... The magazine is pretty worthless now. Articles that arent that interesting, none of their prices make sense and you can spend 2 minutes on ebay looking at completed auctions to make your own "guide"...

I have the sneaking suspicion that Beckett Hockey is down to Clint and Al for staff. Period. So if that's the case, I think they can be forgiven for being overtaxed. I'm pretty sure they're not happy that they can't put out work comparable to the quality they've shown in the past.

Q- I wasn't pointing the finger at anybody. I hope it wasn't interpreted that way. Mike

Mike and Jay,
When you say surprised, do you mean, too low, or too high?

Wes

BTW: quincy, are we allowed to post bv's on this site?

Here is an example of what surprised me:
2004-05 H & P Ed Giacomin Auto BV=$60
2004-05 H & P Andy Bathgate Auto BV=$12
2003-04 Parkhurst Original 6 Auto Giacomin #/90 BV=$82
2003-04 Parkhurst Original 6 Auto Andy Bathgate #/80 BV=$60
ITG claims there are no SP's in the autos but this would make you say Hmmmm.

Wes, Quick question. What does Yanic44 mean? Just curious. Mike
Mike,
Well, about 3 years ago my friend (who is cwcards here) made a Beckett account. At the time, he collected, and his favourite player, was Yanic Perrault, and Perrault's number was 44. So, he made his name Yanic44. He never used the account or anything, so he said I could use/have it. That's when I started to post on the Beckett Message boards, and the name has basicly stuck with me ever since, although I could have chaged it, obviously, I've decided not to, because I have been using it for about 2 years now.

Anyways, there ya go, kind of a long story, eh!

You may want to have your friend get in toucgh with me. I may have a SP Yanic Perrault card for him. Mike

I work at a card store and I see so many examples of how Beckett is flawed left right and center. Now its not there fault, they're human beings. Heck, NOBODY would be able to make a perfect price guide. They try their best and do a GREAT job at it.

That being said, the main problem is customers take Beckett values as law. If you ever priced a card at or above Beckett you'll get flack to no end (and likely wont be selling the card).

Beckett is by no means a be all and end all. I think people have to finally start realizing that.

I was browsing through and most of the prices don't seem that far off. However, I couldn't find a price for the Marc-Antoine Pouliot auto. I haven't seen a lot of them around, I wonder if he's been severely short printed.

According to my source at ITG. He swears there are no Short Prints. I dunno if I believe him.

I was at the Expo and the guys from ITG told me that there were no SPs when I was opening my boxes there. Still tough to believe. I haven't seen another MAP auto on E-bay since I picked mine up a week after the product was released.

Really surprised to see the Crosby up at $300. I thought that it would be closer to $200
