Upstanding Member,
On this, the last day of 2024, I thought I would do one last post here for the year. I have acquired sooooooooooooooo many nice cards in 2024 and could never realistically do a post trying to decide on just a "Top 10 cards of 2024".
So, I have decided instead to do a "Best card transaction of 2024" thread.
This is easily the biggest transaction, and smoothest transaction of the year for me. The deal was with a collector from Germany who is one of the greatest to ever deal with. Some of you may know him...Chris Kulhanek. I did a few deals with him in the past. He was a big Percy Lesueur collector, and I traded some of my Percy cards for cards he had that I liked. Those trades always went well. Back in July of this year, he messaged me knowing I liked a lot of his cards. He said he was paring down his collection and asked if I'd be interested in some of them. He showed me the 8 cards that he thought I'd be interested in (I was!) and they were all up my alley...vintage game-used player cards with lots of Vezina and Cyclone Taylor...my kind of cards! Problem was, no way I could afford all of them at that time. Maybe one here, another in a month or two, etc. He really wanted me to have them, so he offered that he would accept monthly payments. That sounded good, I could do that. And he made the offer even better. He would send the cards first, and I could make payments over a 6-month period. WOW! Building trusting relationships actually works in this hobby! Super nice of him to do that!
He sent me the cards and starting in July, I made 6 monthly payments to him, with the last one being a couple of weeks ago. Chris, I just want to thank you again for a smooth, and generous deal!
So, without further ado, here are the 8 cards from this transaction:
ITGU20-Vintage-Taylor-LeSueur-1-1
UM20-TFF-11-Fabled-Four-1-2
UM20-RM-10-Rare-Materials-1-1
UM5-Cornerstones-Roy-Vezina-Hainsworth-Plante-10-10
ITGU21-Timeworn-Vezina-Lesueur-1-1
ITGU20-VM8-01-Vintage8-1-2
ITGU18-ATRP-12-Rivals-1-1
And the last one is a double-sided one...
Front:
ITGU20-F6-10-Fantasy-Six-on-Six-1-1-front
Back:
ITGU20-F6-10-Fantasy-Six-on-Six-1-1-back
And that was my biggest transaction of 2024.
Everyone is welcome to hijack this thread and post your biggest transaction for 2014 here if you'd like to participate.
Wishing everyone a Happy and prosperous collecting 2025!
