Hi all

Looking for best option to facilitate FB trades where the seller is based in Canada and only has EMT and no PayPal.

I'm based in the US and only have Venmo/PayPal etc.

I've been relying on a friend to do the EMT swap from PayPal but would like to be able to do this directly. Any good options?

Thanks!

I am out at the moment but I am sure someone can serve as an intermediary to help.

I really appreciate that Ameet. I'm trying to avoid hassling anyone when these trades come through but I very well may reach out for help as I have two EMT-only purchases pending.

Grateful for any other recommendations too. Thanks all.

Thanks Ryan - only issue with a wire (at least if I'm sending) is that I need IBAN, Swift, Account Number, Beneficiary Account Name & No and a lot of other stuff where for casual FB trades, it's probably too much. If it was a super high end trade, then totally agree wire is the way to go.

Just in case this is useful for anyone else:

I spoke to TD today--

In any case, they allow US Persons to set up CAD denominated accounts online. I've not finished the process but in theory this means, once I've established a TD USD account, I'll be able to wire and/or transfer money from my primary USD bank account to TD USD and then convert to TD CAD and then send EMT.

Hope that this is useful for others too...

BMO and RBC have the ability to enact something similar but it may take an extra step or two to accomplish this. BMO - you would likely have to open an account through Harris Bank, but as far as I know Harris Bank is available for BMO clients with a decent amount of assets through their institutions

Good morning everyone, I'm planning on doing a deal using EMT as well - my first time, I'm in the States and only have Venmo/Paypal.
Is there anything with EMT relating to buyer protection? This is a casual FB deal and I'm hopeful the seller will do the right thing. Deal is a little over $100.
Thanks or any thought/input.

hey Cheliosduff - it's basically like sending PayPal F&F or via Venmo/Zelle. I wouldn't think there's much in the way of buyer protection. If you're sending EMT, I'd rely on "vouches" or similar if it's on FB.
