So first off I just want to say, this is not my card. I wish it was though. OK, good - thats out of the way.

Ive seen some great patches on Beckett and here on HI - awesome patches (The Penguins eye on a Crosby, the Bruin eye on a Bourque, the Penguins fist on a Fleury etc), but this (for me anyway) is the best patch I have ever seen. Of course its all subjective, part of the eye, the fist etc., but this is colourful, its centered and I like it because its a HOF'er from an Original 6 logo. I give you;

Any better than this?

It's nice but still a color or two shy of what have surfaced from some recent products. I had a 7 Color Kane out of the 07-08 UD Rookie Materials set. Unfortunately I no longer own it but it was moved at a price I couldn't refuse.

I have a hunch there's gonna be a couple wicked Limited Logos from Kane and Toews showing up as well.

Like I said in the OP, its centered and its a HOF'er. I havent seen the Kane and he certainly not (or even close to being) a HOF'er.

The patch is the knot at the top of the braid which holds all the tail feathers.
The shinny sheen from the base of the patch(or skin), suggests the crest is from the 81-83 era. If I had the card in front of me I could tell for sure.

Breaking my heart to see a HOF player's jersey be treated in this manner.

Take a look at a Booby Hull game used jersey from the same era.

not even close.

You are compring a 69-70 Bobby Hull against an early 80's Espo patch.
If you don't realize that the crests & shoulder patches were all embroidered by hand from the 64-65 to 89-90 season, with various minor changes over the years.

The Espo crest looks like a Sandow type used from 81-83.
click on the link in my sig and you will see to judge for yourself.

It's a spectacular patch!

What kills me is what the patch fakers have done to this hobby. If UD is going to cut up a jersey, that center piece is going to have to land somewhere. And The Cup is certainly a fitting place for it. But the instant we all see it, rather than appreciating it, we all start to scrutinize if for authenticity. It looks very real to me, but not before a lot of skepticism...
