Best protection for vintage cards?

my gretz and boomer rc is in a sleeve and a huge 1/2 inch lucite block....then i seal it with saran(spelling) wrap really nicely and tight that you dont even know its on it..

otherwise my others are graded..

hope that help joey..

I never heard that one before. For regular size valuable vintage, I use magnetic one touch holders. For irregular sized cards, I use vintage soft sleeves and toploaders.

penny sleeves, top loader, and teambag

teambag is very important, i had a psa 8 or 9 ish lemieux opc rc slipped up and bent.

you have to be careful with the lucite block. you can't screw the blocks too tight, or else the surface of the card will stick to the lucite block as time goes on.

yeah right now I'm using a lucite block for my gretzky rc. I've seen some folks show me a VERY old card once and the card was stuck to the lucite block. My only advice to them was try to heat the block to get it off =/

Does it help if I put the card in a soft sleeve?

And I don't know why but I don't like using the 1-touch magnetic holders for vintage cards

I get all of my older vintage slabbed, but for the "newer" vintage I would not hesitate to use a 1-touch magnetic holder. Just make sure to put the 1-touch inside a resealable graded/team sleeve to make sure it doesn't get scratched or pops open if dropped.

No, it'd stick to the penny sleeve too.

one good way to check is to have strong desk light running from the top edge of the brink (make sure you put the brick right next to the light source to see this), and if you can see the water-ish mark on the card that means the brick is too tight to the card. if you loosen up the screw enough the water-ish marks will go away, then the card would be safe i think. (this is just MY guess though)

We use penny sleaves inside of 1/2 inch and 1 inch lucites all the time and have never had an incident.

I just sold an ORR RC that was pressed by a 1 inch lucite in a penny sleeve for over 3 years with no issues.

My own Orr and Gretzky RC's are in penny sleeves and slabbed in 1 inch lucite.

Never had a problem.

that's good, do you screw the lucites as tightly as possible?
