Now that I’m about through cataloging my insane Giacomin haul I’m wanting to find a site to host card pics. Things I’m hoping for:

-Free, or reasonable.
-Plenty of space. I’m at 295 unique cards and that will keep growing.
-Easy to organize. Ideally a drag and drop tile view would be nice. I’d like to keep thinks in chronological order by set so will always be adding and needing to slide a card in between others.
-User friendly, I’m a bit of a dolt with technology so idiot proof is good!

Anyone have any suggestions I could check out? Would love to hear what you guys have to say. Thanks ahead of time.

I was using postimages.org but am in the process of switching over to flickr.com. Flickr gives you about 1,000 free images and is easy to set up into albums. It can take some time to get to know it and how to use the "Organizr", but once you do it's pretty user friendly.

Here's a link to my albums page, but don't click on it if you don't like the LA Kings

That looks pretty nice. How is it for organizing and reorganizing as new cards are added? Can you change the order around?

Using the Organizr tool you do all of that, yes. I generally organize alphabetically to start, then I move them around in the order I want. You can add new pics to the albums once you upload them to your main page photostream. Can also reorganize the folders on your Albums page. Easy once you get the hang of it.

Definitely recommend Flickr, especially for a collection of your size. With the 1,000 limit, that gives you plenty of room to grow. Very user friendly and there's a mobile app that is pretty easy to use as well.

I use the free version of Weebly, and I love it. It's pretty simple to use, but gives you a more polished look than Flickr imo. You can resize pictures to whatever size you want, and adding text is very easy. I like to think of Flickr as my library of hockey cards, and Weebly as my art gallery. Super easy to add pages and move them around for whatever system you want to use for organizing your cards. Not sure how many cards I've entered so far, but easily over 1000. Here's a link to one of my pages if you want to take a look. As Aaron (creasecollector) has told us in the forums, you can take images from Weebly and place them in HI and other places.

Weebly all the way. You will not regret it! Drop-And-Drop. Super easy to do.

Uhtred, your page is really nice, your scanner looks like it ROCKS too, images are super clean. Really nice. I don't know if I care about resizing. I'm just doing iPhone pics of everything I think, but seeing your image clarity now has me wondering. I'm 303 cards along though so to start scanning at this point seems like quite the endeavor. Then again, may as well do it right I guess. DO you mind if I ask what model scanner you use? The one I have isn't bad, but it won't automatically crop the scanned cards and you have to do it all manually with is a pain in the tookus.

Crease, I saw yours earlier on and also very nice. You guys are making me feel like I'm phoning it in by using an iPhone and something like Flickr now! LOL.

Dewwen and Hammer, you said 1,000 images on the free version of Flickr? That's a positive, and likely enough to cover me for, well, a real long time, LOL.

Thanks! I’m using an Epson V550 scanner, and I’ll often take a half hour here and there just to do some binge scanning. I do all of my scanning & Weebly work on my computer. You can use Weebly on mobile platforms, but I find it easier with my computer. I am manually editing my scans, if you can do it automatically with your scanner I’m not familiar with that.

I should also mention that you need a distinct file name for each scan that you put into Weebly. So even if scans come from different folders, you can’t enter multiple IMG 56 (or whatever number) scans into your Weebly site, as they could change over time to the default scan (1st one entered).

Correct, 1,000 images on a free Flickr account. And theoretically, if that isn’t enough, you can start a second free account using another email address. I have three Flickr accounts, as my signature suggests. Not enough space to have those three categories all in one account (or two). LOL

Say you make a 05/06 album and mass upload 30 pics into it, does it give you the option to drag and drop photos to organize them or does it require alpha/numeric sequential file names to accomplish that?

I used to use Fotki and you had to rename/number the pics to organize and when you add a few cards it became kind of a pain.

You can use a Gallery to place multiple scans on a page, but I usually do one scan at a time because I like to play around with placement and I prefer individual borders for the cards. I’m not aware of any special file name requirements, as long as each scan has a distinct name you should be fine. I’ll generally use the year/series/card#, so something like 19-20 SPx #11 or 16-17 SPGU #36.
