What would you guys say is the best base card design from an Upper Deck hockey product in the last ten years? All replies are appreciated.

I actually don't like the cup base card designs, I prefer more shiny foil, my vote is 08-09 black diamond

I'm on the Black Diamond band wagon, though my fav year is 07-08 with 12-13 being pretty nice too... Artifacts can be nice some years, especially liked 10-11.

Tough to choose just one. But if I look at Panini...I'll go 10-11 Contenders and for UD...12-13 Fleer Retro (purely coincidence Dave).

any UD series 1 or 2 base set cards. I can't tell you how often I stop to look at those base cards.. just fantastic. Have you see the Ekblad Canvas YG.. just top notch

Simple designs win out for me as well. UD1, UD2, and Fleer Retro are the first ones that come to mind. And this years canvas cards, although not base look fantastic. Love that they used a different photo on the back of the card.

Based on your great responses, I am thinking about starting a small project to complete the base set for black diamond. I want to do the 05-06 black diamond base set with no rookies. So if anyone has any 05-06 black diamond base, let me know and maybe we can trade. Also a checklist would be appreciated :)

So you want black diamond base sets, eh?

:D

Send me a PM, and we'll talk.

During the 04-05 lockout, UD released Legendary Signatures. Loved that product!! All hard signed, clean, sharp design, not to mention the Hall of Fame Checklist. Opened more boxes than I care to mention. Mastercard's probably still smokin'!!
