BGS is 30 bucks?

It’s been that for a little while now, and they ain’t guaranteeing a damn thing.

If you are planning on having a lot of cards valued at under $100.00 each graded. It might be best to to do a bulk submission.
50-99 cards is only $10.00 per card.Over 100 cards is $9.00 per card.This is with PSA as a member. Even if it means joining
forces with a few other collectors to get your count up to those bulk submission numbers.There always seems to be lot of people
looking to send in a few cards. So if you had 5 people that is only 10 cards each.Good luck with what every you decide as
far as the grading goes.
 
I grade mostly young guns. Bgs simply isn't economical anymore. I'll be making a bulk submission to psa of about 120 cards. The $9 bulk submission at PSA is just too good of an offer to consider anything else. I don't care if it takes a year. That are mostly PC cards so no hurry.

BGS took away their non-guaranteed service, which is why it's so expensive sub graded service. They still offer somewhat cheap grading without sub grades. But no one wants those. I spoke to a bgs representative about it and he stated that PSA doesn't give any subgrades at all, so now the services are even. The problem is the market hasn't accepted bgs without subgrades.
 
If you think the prices were high at BGS the other day check again. They jacked them straight to the moon yesterday. $125/card for two say service with subgrades, $100/card for five day with subgrades. And for 10 day service (which is really like 60+ day with the backlog) at 1-10 cards is up to $40/per as well.

Edit: These prices kick in August 3rd

From what I can see, PSA under the regular tier, each card is 20 dollars @ 45 days. BGS is 30 dollars @ 30 days. Now, to me this is a big difference. So, why would you pay so much more for BGS? Is it worth the difference?

PSA still has cheap bulk submissions of $9-10.

Beckett is offering $8 for no subgrades, but the problem is the demand for that is really low. They are turning subgrading into a premium service.

They say it's temporary to get the backlog under control. SGC did the same thing last week, their two pricing tiers are now literally ''I Need It Now'' (five days) for $100/card and ''I Can Wait'' (no guarantee) for $10/card. There's nothing in between.
 
I just paid $70 for a rush service that'll take two months.

Thank all of the people that are sending in fluff common cards that are gumming up the plumbing. This is BGS way of saying "business is great, stop sending in $1 base cards to get graded."

I've been seeing a TON of 2nd, & 3rd year base cards from the 90s getting 7s, 8s & 9s grades that are barely worth the paper they're printed on but come in a $20 slab and selling for about $10 on eBay. I scratch my head when I see those.
 
PSA is starting to blow the doors off of BGS in terms of sale values of their respective Gem Mint grades (BGS 9.5 vs PSA 10), especially in the other sports. All the new investor types coming into the game prefer PSA for the simpler grading scale and liquidity of PSA 10's and to a lesser extent 9's. BGS is losing ground quickly in the grade and flip world. Black Labels and Pristine 10's obviously sell for the most overall but they're incredibly rare and investors can't stockpile dozens if not hundreds of them like they can with a PSA 10. BGS 9.5s and below are losing steam with PSA 9's out selling them in a lot of cases. The subgrades are probably hurting them in this regard as a BGS 9.5 can have like five different values depending on what the subgrades are (or even have no subgrades at all) and investors don't seem to want to deal with that variance as much. They want a simple ''is it a 9 or a 10'' so they can tag one consistent value on it and not have to do calculus to figure out what different copies are worth.

I myself don't play the flip game so I collect BGS for my modern PC cards as I like having the subgrades on those. If the goal is flipping and getting top dollar however I think you need to go with PSA these days. If the goal is simply collecting it just comes down to your personal preferences and how much you're willing to pay for certain grades from a given company.

No. PSA is already charging based on the card’s value, which is something BGS doesn’t do.

This is strictly to prevent unnecessary submissions. People that know what they’re doing know that their PSA 9s can still get a BGS 9.5 which will still sell for more, but not as much as a PSA 10.
