Hello crew,

Just trying to get back into the swing after about a 10 year hiatus. Been trying to find a definitive breakdown of BGS grading costs these days, but finding conflicting information based on internet searches. Can I not simply send a stack of cards in to be graded without being a paid subscriber to their registry, etc?

Thanks,
Josh

Unlike PSA, you do not have to join their club to submit. However, they are only offering the following services at this time:

Premium $250/card
Premium - No Sub Grades $125/card

So, unless, you are very wealth, submitting a stack of cards could be a problem.

PSA and BGS have priced themselves where it is no longer affordable but want their share dollar wise of the market.
Also an issue was that people were submitting anything / everything to make a BUCK!
END result, they could not keep up with the demand.
Does this mean that this will affect profit wise the value of cards already graded? Already too much out there of the low to mid range stuff to have an immediate impact!

I'll admit I am not their target customer and have never submitted to them for grading, but this makes absolutely no sense to me. Regardless of if I ask for Sub Grades or not, shouldn't the exact same criteria be used to grade the card. $125 difference just to print the sub grades on the label?

I think what's going on is that both companies have supply chain issues, and can't get enough materials to slab cards. On top of that there is a major backlog of cards.

They'll let you grade if you pay ridiculous amounts of money, bit are otherwise just telling you no.

It's absurd though. 2 years ago, I paid $8-11 USD for psa..... Now $100 is the minimum price. They had issues before though too. It got to the point where, even before this madness started, it took over a year to get an economy submission back. Then prices exploded, and there was no hope for these companies.
