No link due to laziness, but I just saw the NFL gave Ben 6 games for his violations of the conduct policy.

Could this open the door for his trade?

So far the Steelers have contacted 7 teams at last hearing. This reported by Adam Schefter on his twitter:

Adam_Schefter Here are teams that Steelers have called about Roethlisberger: Rams, 49ers, Raiders, Bills, Jaguars, Seahawks and Browns.

Adam_Schefter Here are the known no’s on interest in Roethlisberger right now: Rams, Bills. Others might not be, just not known yet.

How can a team like Buffalo not take a chance on him?

It depends on the asking price. Would you risk a lot on a guy who is potentially facing jail time? A rape conviction would make Michael Vick look like the patron saint of the NFL. Big Ben's off field antics have been a distraction regardless of his talent. A team could run the risk of alienating a lot of fans if this thing sticks.

As I understand it, Steelers are essentially contacting the teams with a top 10 pick, because that's what they're looking for, a top 10 pick.

I questioned how a team like the Bills could pass so quickly, but I think I see a reason:

- Being suspended for 6 games means not only is he not playing till week 6, but I believe that means he cannot even participate in team activities (camp, practice, conditioning, or even traveling with the team I believe) until then.
- That being the case, you will STILL need to acquire ANOTHER QB, who effectively will be your starter, since you really can't plug Ben in half-way through the season. It will be week 6 before he can theoretically even put on a jersey, let alone throw a football with the team.
