Hell has frozen over, I just checked!

I like the added value of the Ice cards as well.

Doing the math (assuming 1 Ice RC per box), a RC #/99 should fall every 4 cases or so.

Remember, Ice is being released across a number of products as part of the product cap contravention plan. Skinner may well show up in SPx Ice.

I actually like the look of the base and the quad jerseys so it'll be a treat to chase the 6 (techincally 8 but I don't actively do 1/1's) Roy's in this one.

Looks like Ice will be spread over at least 2 products. There are 55 of most likely 110 cards in the set that are available only in Black Diamond.

I confirmed with UD at the Toronto Expo that Ice will be spread between Black Diamond and SPx equally. I also shared with them my concerns that the set-builder demand for Ice won't have much of an impact, since it's unlikely many people will try to build a set when it's being distributed in such an odd and difficult manner. Of course, these cards probably won't count as RCs anyway.

I'm trying to figure out what's up with Black Diamond card #92 -- the listed player is "San Jose Sharks."

All the Ice set builders will quit this year for one reason alone: No Ice Premiere auto/patches /10. That was one of the more popular sets. If you're going to keep a product in your lineup, don't remove the most collectible portion!

The base set RCs (especially the ones /99) and the Auto/Patches /10 were certainly both popular sets, but I'm not sure they were so popular for the same reasons. Regardless, they were both very big parts of an otherwise-mediocre product that was no longer on the schedule.

So why not keep the best parts of various products and combine them into something better? Cost? I will never be able to understand why UD didn't just roll these elements into another product that got kept, rather than "cap-circumventing" the RCs (and undermining their collectibility) and scrapping the Acetate Auto/Patches entirely.

Exactly! I was so sure UD would combine SP Game Used and SpX. Why? Because while some of the insert sets are nice, the SPGU rookies are not collected very much while SpX rookies usually do well. The rest of the SpX product is usually soft. Combine the 2 and make a great product

Same goes for Trilogy & Ice. Ice scripts and Frozen in Time are 2 pretty cool insert sets. Ice has a huge following when it comes to the /99 rookies and /10 patches. Combining the 2 would have made for an even better product.

I really don't think it's that hard to figure out...

Wait...you're saying all the Ice set builders...then use a set /10 as a reference to them? So there are only 10 Ice set builders a year? I don't get it. I'd agree that the Ice Patch Autos /10 were a strong reason for box and case breakers to open the product. But there is no Ice stand alone product this year, so that wouldn't deter the Ice set builders. When I think of Ice set builders I think of the guys trying to get one of the 99 possible sets because of the shortprinted rookies...not necessarily those that try for the Ice Patch Auto set /10.

Yep, I did. And believe me Chris, there are way more than 10 people fighting to build that set each year...

Here's my first complaint about Black Diamond:

One of those is the base version of the quad jersey card. One is the black version /10.

Can you tell the difference?
