Black diamond emerald/ruby vs upcoming retro pmg's

They are similar in numbering, and looks. Will they sell or be worth the same price. Or will the pmg's go nuts like basketball cards. Wondering if I should save my money or keep buying ruby and emerald bd.

I really wish they would do this:

I don't like the looks of the basketball retro ones. They bring back the insert, but changed the design. The design was what made them popular in my opinion.
