Blackhawks set dubious record for failing to lead over 1st 6 games

The Chicago Blackhawks find themselves in the NHL record books for the wrong reasons.

The Blackhawks fell to 0-5-1 on the season with a 6-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday, during which time they've never held a lead. At 360:57, it's the longest streak without holding a lead to begin a season since at least 1979-80.

Chicago made a flurry of offseason splashes to try and get the franchise back on track after four mediocre years, acquiring Seth Jones, Marc-Andre Fleury, and Tyler Johnson, among others.

However, the moves haven't panned out, as the Blackhawks have been outscored 27-12 and sit dead-last in the league standings in terms of points percentage.

To make matters worse, Chicago's 2022 first-round pick belongs to the Columbus Blue Jackets as part of the Jones deal, although it's lottery protected.

The Blackhawks' next chance at picking up their first win of the season comes Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

If nothing else, Rocky is loyal because their coaching staff, top to bottom, has been a train wreck since Q left town and Scotty turned over the reigns to his incompetent son Stan. Given all the other issues surrounding the team, proven yet or not, Stan should be fired, Rocky should be removed as Chairman and have nothing to do with day to day operations, and the entire coaching staff should be fired. There is plenty of talent there to salvage the season and not waste another season.

Given what’s come to light and we know who knew what and when, Quennville should be fired and not allowed to coach again, and Rocky should have to step down as Chairman and have nothing to do with day to day stuff. He can just sit back and count his money by himself. Makes me sick, and the players who knew and did nothing, shame on them too.

Can anyone give one good reason why Kevin Cheveldayoff is still employed in Winnipeg?

I was wondering that myself. According to a couple of different articles, Cheveldayoff was not in a management/leadership position at the time the assault took place and thus is not part of the issue. If that is a correct statement of the facts - i.e. he wasn't part of the organization when it happened - then I can see the reasoning to leave him out of this.

According to Bettman, Kevin was the Asst GM but not considered “senior management”, however, he was in the meeting with Bowman Jr, Quennville, and the rest of senior management on May 23, 2010. Not sure how that excludes him from any responsibility or obligation, but who the heck am I to question the multi-millionaires….

I think every person in that room, and anyone else who didn’t act and covered it up, should get tossed in jail and the key thrown away. Maybe I’m a bit too biased and pissed because I met and talked to Kyle a few times during his WHL days and it really sucks to see what “my” team did to him.

Whoops, yes. "Senior" management. And I didn’t say I agree, just that I could follow their reasoning.

I wonder how much of this kind of garbage doesn’t see the light of day.
