Sacrebleu
Upstanding Member,
went to the local money pit today and saw that he had an opened box of Parkie Rookie with two packs in it. I asked him what came in the other three packs and he told me that he split the box with someone at a show with the other person taking 3 packs and him getting 2. He saw one pack opened that he said was crap but the other guy wouldn't open the other 2 in front of him. Naturally I bought the two packs. The first pack was pretty bad with just a Chris Higgins rookie jersey /90 and it was white to boot. The 2nd pack made up for it a bit as it contained a Roy Worters Before the Mask jersey gold /10 and it was two colors
The back of the card explains that this swatch is from a N.Y. Americans jersey and that Roy played in the NHL from 1925-1937 which means that the swatch is somewhere between 68 and 80 years old! That's some history for you.
Then I opened a box of Pacific Supreme hobby, the price on these is right for what you get and the cards are quite nice, even the jersey subset appeals to me visually and the checklist isn't bad. The true RC's are numbered to a reasonable 775 and you get something in just about every pack. Anyway this box yielded an Eric Staal auto rc parallel /375 which unfortunately is a dupe for me, not that its bad to have extra of Staal but I still seek Fleury, Tootoo, Stajan, Pitkanen, Michalek and Sejna so if anyone has these up for trade plmk. The jerseys this time were not stellar but not awful, Iginla and Satan. Got 6 of the true RC's including Bergeron and Ruutu, still looking for a few of those to complete my set.
I then moved on to an 02-03 box of Crown Royale, also super cheap and I was excited about the possibility of getting a good box topper dual patch. I didn't exactly light the lamp with that one as it was of Martin Biron/J.P. Dumont. The swatches on each were decent with 2C and 2 layers of stitching on the Biron and 3C with silver "hair" sticking out of the Dumont. Jerseys in that box were Theodore and Modin and I of course got scads of RC's but no one amazing.
Finally I opened a box of 01-02 Parkhurst, at under $30 I can open those all day long cuz you don't feel too bad when you strike out. This box had a RC which not every does- unfortunately it was Jaroslav Bednar /500. I also got two silver parallels /500 of Brent Johnson and Felix Potvin. The GU was pretty nice, a 2C game used stick of Peter Forsberg with an old school wood and black swatch.
Anway, think that I've written enough for now, all is available for trade/sale except for maybe the Worters which I was thinking about listing.
Here are some scans:
Thanks for the read, Dave
