Fun weekend! Saturday was non-stop busy. Sunday was very slow which was great as I took a couple hours to get all my cards priced and ready for Expo!

Was awesome seeing all the HI members that made the trek.

Thanks to Marcel for organizing the show. Was fortunate to be placed in the corner of the room that also hosted ravman and Player's Choice. Awesome dudes to hang with for a weekend.

Highlites/Honors/Sales/Pickups from the weekend:

  • Friday night got to watch a case of 14-15 Cup get busted. Case hit was a Selanne Monumental Patch that was pretty slick.
  • Medicine Hat Dwayne managed to hit a huge McDavid card from Premier. Was an Oil Drop patch auto /10. Unbelievable piece. Card was moved during the weekend but I'll let the buyer of it show it off if he so chooses to reveal his identity and show off the sickest piece from the show.
  • Got to place a PSA 7 Gretzky rookie into a collector's collection.
  • Had the privelege of placing my 2nd card into AdamCormier's C56 set!
  • Got to help chefjason add a sweet Gordie auto into his PC on Saturday and then on Sunday got to place a second Gordie auto into hduong's collection. Hope you both enjoy those sweet pieces!
  • Moved a PSA 10 Crosby Young Guns card. I will say that there was LOTS of interest in Sid this weekend.
  • Sold a raw Paul Henderson rookie card that was in my PC for at least 2 decades.
  • Sold a trio of graded baseball rookies to an out of town buyer including Tom Glavine Fleer Glossy PSA 10, Billy Ripken FF PSA 10 and Darryl Strawberry PSA 9 Tiffany.
  • Orvy grabbed a Mark Stone BD Auto from my table, thanks pal.
  • Moved a Lafleur 05-06 Scripted Swatches and Denis Savard Ice patch auto /10 to Dr. Marc.
  • When I sold the Crosby Young Guns I got back a Gaudreau Cup Gold RC parallel /25 which I then sold a couple hours later. Was strongly considering keeping that card but decided to let it go as the customer really liked it.
  • Sold off 4 binders of mid 90's UD complete sets along with 5 complete sets of UD Golf with the Woods RC and a misc replica jersey to a dude with a booth at an antique mall. He was like "I don't want this stuff so I'll make one offer", I was willing to accept anything over $4.99. He whipped out $40 and I was like "DEAL"! I couldn't even give this stuff away so was happy to gain the space back in the cave.
  • Also managed to dump off all of my old Starting Lineups, Heads Ups and 2002 Team Canada Bobble Heads to my buddy John from Medicine Hat. John was so much fun to deal with and hang with I had to buy something from him so ended up settling on a Claude Giroux Cup RC.
  • Picked up one card fro my PC this weekend which is by far an all-time low for me. I simple little Scheifele/Wheeler Ultimate quad patch piece /25. I couldn't resist the lower Scheifele patch. And for $11. I swear I've never spent only $11 on PC items at a card show before!
  • On Sunday, from Darcy, I snagged the 1/1 companion piece (thanks to Joe Pawich for planting that term in my head, and sorry pal didn't see any Murphy's for you) to the Denis Savard Ice card I sold earlier for only a few bucks more than I sold the /10 version for.
  • Sold a Jagr UD PSA 10 RC and Brian Bellows PSA 10 RC to a HOF rookie collector.
  • Moved an Ehlers SPA RC that I picked up earlier in a lot buy from a customer. Was included in the pic with the Lemieux, Lundqvist and Crawford.
  • Moved my OEL Genuine Letters to one of my favorite dudes, Kyle. See you at Expo, man!
  • I was pimping clean used one-touches all weekend. Had about 400 of them. Ended up selling just under half of'em to significantly lighten my load! Thanks Marcel for taking so many off me.

Picked up two small lots during the weekend too. Pics below.

That's all! Thanks for the look-see! See y'all at Expo!

Great to see you at the show Jeremy, and glad to hear how busy it was on Saturday. I really hope this show takes off with the collecting public, we need this to grow roots in Calgary. Thanks Marcel for all your hard work in organizing it! I forgot you had the used one-touches, I would have grabbed some. Looks like you moved a lot of high end stuff out to collectors. Nothing beats finding the card you want, and holding it in your hand as you pay for it. No exchange rate, customs, postage fees, etc.

Jeremy,

Absolutely LOVE the write-up my friend. One of the most enjoyable threads that I've read in quite some time. I love these type of posts. I actually read it multiple times. Actually felt like I was at this show. Looks like you had a productive weekend. Congrats on some stellar additions. See you in 10 days! Safe travels.

Cheers,

Great card, and great recap in general. Thanks for keeping an eye out anyway, and glad I could add a term to the HI lexicon :)

Nice stuff Jeremy, great deal on the Scheifele dual patch... lots of great deals and great people on the weekend for sure. Thanks again for offering me the Stone auto, have a great expo coming up!

Nice write up dude! It was a good show to say the least. See ya in T.O

it was a beauty show, your a great dude man, and congrats again on the other thing you mentioned ;) the Howe is in my cabinet and lookin good as only Mr Hockey can. see you at the March show and for sure the April Summit, I am going to set up my first table at the april show

thanks Jeremy for another smooth deal...and here is the newest acquisition to my C56 set..a nice Horace Gaul PSA3..looking forward to Fall Expo in 10 days. :)

My only regret about the Calgary show is that I was rushed for time..only had 2 hours to spend there and didn't get a chance to really dig into all the great stuff that was there...the room wasn't the biggest (sorry, I'm spoiled from Expo) ..but the stuff that people had was quality and many rare, hard to find items.

Great show all around. Lots of collectors looking for Sid and MacDavid cards. Thanks for the Gordie Howe auto.

Thanks for helping with this fun weekend. Figured the best spot would be by ravman and Players choice for you. The cards in your display cases were drool worthy.

Always enjoy your show recaps.

I can not believe I stole the show with my pick up......guess I better log into photobucket and up load a pic or 2.

Man I love that Savard. I just picked up a Selanne gold /5, what a sharp set. Plus the patches are under plastic so you know they are not altered :)
