Without diving into too much detail, I received a nice message from a fellow HI member tonight who simply commented on my collection. A few words of appreciation and enjoyment but I must say that they're still sticking with me right now.

It's made me think about the tremendous amount of camaraderie I feel I've built and felt over my many.....many..............many years of collecting.

It's been almost 20 years since I grabbed a handful of Linden base cards from a monster box at a local show for 10 cents a piece....a landmark moment in my collecting life.

From the people at the shows I see (some maybe only once or twice a year) to those whom I haven't seen in over a decade (for numerous reasons) to the motley crew that envelop trade night offerings to the many people I've met both in person and online as a result of hobby boards like HI, building relationships.....camaraderie has been such an overwhelming aspect of my hobby enjoyment.

The fun in this hobby for me is a direct result of the positivity that is generated from all the great people I've met and chatted with over the years. I look forward to continuing that for many years to come.

Thanks for the comment tonight. (you know who you are)

So true Brett, thanks for sharing. The friends I've made through the hobby have become some of the best friends I have. The countless PM's I have received from people alerting me to cards on eBay that I may need to the hundreds of in person interactions at shows and trader nights are a couple things that make the hobby about so much more than just adding cards to the PC.

Good stuff! :thanks:

Right on Brett! I went by myself to the last card show, but no way was I feeling lonely in the room because of all the friends and acquaintances I've made over the years. Having a space like HI adds another dimension to our collecting experience. I especially enjoy the opportunity to connect with other Iginla collectors, sharing thoughts about new cards and our collections. (and even being part of the "motley crew" at trade night where we met) :hi5:
