Can this be real? Opinions wanted

I have a Gaborik "Snipers" version and I have only ever seen two of them.

If the patch is real, it is amazing! But I'm skeptical with the whole NHL Shield...and if you've never seen one before as the big Luongo collector. :confused:

Plus...those Patch cards are pretty thick. That card appears as thin as a regular base card. Doesn't it? Something's not right. :crazy:

I have 7 of these cards now and have been picking them up for about a year when possible. All of them are thicker than Dominion base cards. This card seems very thin.

I just messaged the seller asking for images of the back and side thickness of the card.

I also messaged him about a rare Lindros 99-00 UD Patch he has that states the back is damaged…. yet shows no image of the back.

I will post here if/when I hear back from the seller.
 
The right side looks like it has possible damage as well. As for the patch I can see it being used as that was the first year that shield cards were used and prior to that they were just regular patches. That set is know to have crazily amazing patches.
 
In all my years of dealing with cards that card looks extremely fake. I have had a couple of those patch cards in the past and and seen them at shows and what not and most of them were 2-3 colors.
 
Didn't UD use bits of shields to make their patches (Pacific too) before they went shield crazy in the Cup and Ultimate? I remember that set having some amazing patches.

I won't say it's real, but the fact that the swatch is from an Islanders jersey instead of a Panthers tells me it could likely be real. My guess is that a faker would more than likely put in a Panther's piece seeing that Luongo only ever 20+ games for the Isles.
 
Thanks for the replies guys. The seller hasn't responded to my questions and the card does look very thin. My guess is fake but if it end resonably cheap I will get it and inspect for myself.
 
I have not heard back from the seller yet either.

What is interesting is that his feedback seems pretty clean. some other really high end cards have been sold with no issues.

Not too much I can add regarding the card, itself. But the seller used to be an avid collector of patch/emblem game-used cards. I remember the username from EBay, back when the Beckett message boards used to be around. As his name came up from time to time. Its good to see that he's still active. As he assembled some awesome pieces. Never heard anything bad about the guy. The unfortunate part, is like many others, he probably got taken advantage of and was sold "altered" cards. However, without any proof, we don't know if this is the current situation. For all we know, this card may be legit. Its tough to say. Definitely sucks for the collecting community, as we now must question any "nice" looking patch card. But unfortunately, that's what its come to. Safe collecting, take care.

I'm with Eli here. Likely has some altered cards he purchased thinking they were real. He has a Drew Bledsoe jersey card up with a patch piece from a set that's clearly a jersey set:

I've only seen two copies of this card before, and the swatches look to be from the numbers. My copy has a patch from the numbers.
