Can you get a PSA Gretzky for $200??

I have not collected at all this year, so I was thinking of what to do at the Expo, and wondered what grade, if any, I might find there?

You may be able to find a pretty messed up PSA 1 for that low a price. I think you'd need to be at at least $250 to get a PSA slabbed Gretzky. Unless you are cool with an altered copy but even then $200 may be too low.

I agree with Jeremy. If you compared prices on eBay the last two sold for - $198.93 and $238.08 and then you add shipping. I don't imagine prices at the Expo will be as low as eBay, so bringing at least $250 CAD would be expected imo. Good luck with your search!

If you're lucky you can find a Topps version in the 3.5-5 range. In that range you might be able to find a flawed card that displays well.

Two years ago at the Expo I found a raw OPC Gretzky Rookie for $100. I got it graded with one of my free vouchers from PSA and yes it did get a 1. The card doesn't have any peeling and the corners are not awful, it just has some creasing through the card but does not take away from the look of the card.

I think even a 1 at the expo will be $300 if you do see one. You might be better off trying to find a raw copy for a good deal and get it graded yourself if you are on a tight budget!

I had a Gretzky graded by BGS. It had a severe crease right in the middle. Came back 2.5. I still cant believe it.

I went looking for lower end Gretzky RC a couple of years ago at the Expo. I agree with GoalieFan, at that price range you're better off buying raw and getting it graded (if you're comfortable with that.) Picked up a raw RC for $240 at the Expo and got it graded by BVG - came back as 5.5. For $200, I would say you're looking at a PSA 3 at the very most...and that's if you're an attractive woman...who will flirt with the dealer to get a good price.
