Anyone else getting an unusually high number of charge backs?

This week has been brutal. As with everything ebay no one is understanding.

I have refunded 2 people in the last week and I assume I would never hear from them again. To my amazement one of the people was honest and sent me back the money. I mailed the card Nov 10 and he got it yesterday.

I had a real gen from QC, he actually filed a claim earlier than normal delivery standard even. When I asked why he filed so fast he said the date that Ebay said for delivery had passed. I'm like, that is just an estimate based on what delivery option you pick - you do realize there are labour disputes going on and a huge backlog right?

Knock on wood, I have only had 1 for a $2.00 card. He didn't ask for a refund, just let me know that it had not arrived after 5 weeks. It was going to the US, and he was very understanding which was nice.

I've had one so far from the US that filed a claim after 17 days cause they said it was passed the expected delivery date.

I had someone 'just letting me know' he would file a claim for a card since he hadn't gotten it yet from Toronto > Edmonton after a few weeks. Regular mail, but of course no tracking on a $30 card (who would pay for that) so I had to eat that one since he was full of **** and will just keep the card now anyways. I hate people sometimes.

Just makes me send more cards to COMC or consign them as lots.

Yeah, I am slowly moving away from using eBay at all for selling. It gives the best audience but the most headaches.

How do we promote this site to the masses, that will surely help drive hobby love and better deals than the fee ridden ebay.

Speaking of which I am long overdue for a donation to the site, will be sending soon! I encourage all of you to do the same!

I'm still waiting on 2 cards I bought from mid-October, but I won't be asking for refunds right now because I know I need to give Canada Post time to come through. With the backlog of letters/parcels they have going on right now, who knows when they will be delivered.

I had a buyer ask where his card was after 5 business days. I stayed as polite as possible. :) He then opened a claim case after 10 business days. I remained polite. He closed it 2 days later. Phew. :)

Had 2 so far. Both in the u.s. Both filed after only 10days since they made payment.

This is a new one for me. This is a card I am waiting on:

2018/12/05 08:51 SCARBOROUGH, ON Item on hold at a secure facility; contact Customer Service

I have been in contact with the seller because Canada Post would not talk to me about it, it has to be the sender. Hopeful things get resolved.

As a US resident, eBay has sent mulitple email messages regarding the strike and to be patient. Another message was sent stating that even though the strike is over, please give your packages time to reach the destination.

In short, people don't read their emails/messages.

To be fair the USPS provides tracking on all first class packages and the tracking continues into Canada. I commonly receive packages from Canada with loads of stamps and no tracking number available. I realize there are cost concerns with cross border shipping but if you're providing no tracking to your buyer, along with an undefined amount of time that the package will be stuck in the system, you have to expect charge backs.

When the delays started a few months back I had three Canadian packages take over a month for them to finally arrive. After a certain amount of time eBay doesn't even allow an automated way for asking for a refund.

Here is the latest package I received from Canada:

There is nothing preventing a buyer from pocketing your product and requesting a charge back except relying on them being a good person. No one ever seems to explain in Canada Post threads like these just why Canada Post charges $19 to ship with tracking to the US.

This right here. I've made several purchases from Canada recently. So what if it takes a little bit longer? eBay conveyed the message. Plus, the relative strength of the USD to CAD more than makes up for the delay of another day/week(s).

I actually cancelled several sales/offers because of the strike and subsequent backlog. I won’t ship unless spthe buyer is willing to pay for courier shipping.

So my question. Is eBay doing anything to protect the seller on this?

I have a package that I shipped out over 5 weeks ago, with tracking, still not reach its destination.

The latest tracking shows it to be at customs.

Now the buyer filed a charge back and I replied with the tracking number as well as the link to the Canada Post site saying there is a delay.

Now say the buyer files the charge back and wins his case (im out $40) and then the card gets delivered, did i just lose the card and $40????

Wheres the seller protection?

If your card was indeed delivered after they got the chargeback, contact ebay to get your money, provided the tracking pans out.

This happened to me in the summer with a package going overseas. I had the tracking number but because the package was stuck somewhere the buyer won the case.

When I did notice the package was finally delivered after 6 weeks I contacted ebay to get my money back. They told me tough luck nothing they could do. It was past the expected delivery date. I am not joking. They could have cared less. The lady told me to contact the buyer and good luck. The really good news is the buyer was at least honest and paid me the money which was $250US so that was good.

On another note I just received another charge back this morning and another annoying guy keeps sending me a message daily his package has not arrived. I love ebay...I love ebay...I love ebay...

As seller on ebay I remember seeing a few emails from ebay asking sellers to consider using alternative shipping companies to ship outside of Canada. I know how difficult and expensive it is to use non-Canada Post companies but ebay did warn and advise us on the matter.
