I have a question to ask. I buy cards on ebay from both USA and Canada. I live in USA. When I buy from Canada I sometimes get charged as little as 4 bucks for shipping 1 card and then for some cards, I get charged as much as 18 dollars. Why is this? Am I just flat out getting ripped off? If you can ship a card for less than 5 dollars to the US, why do some people charge so much more? When I ship cards to Canada, I don't charge anywhere near 20 bucks and everything works out fine. Why isn't this the norm? How can people get away with charging so much?

I use auctane on eBay to ship internationally and I get a tracking number to canada and it costs about 8 bucks. So, for a card from Canada to the US, the cheapest tracking is 18 dollars? Why such a difference?

$18 definitely sounds like the Expresspost/Registered charge. In that case you should get a tracking number and maybe slightly faster transit times though I don't find it's significantly faster than standard shipping. The main benefit is the tracking which isn't available to the USA on regular mail.

Yep. Since 2000ish, the cost of registered mail has risen 300%, with an inverse relationship to service quality.

If you use Ebay and use an online shipping label, from USA to Canada you get free tracking( for 8.00). This same service through the USPS ( store front), does not include tracking. This is an added bonus. Shipping to Canada from USA is around 7-8.00. Shipping with tracking and insurance is 15.00+( you cannot just get tracking) in store. Same with Canada to USA. Read the description of the auction and look up what the shipping will be. If a seller uses the terms express post or registered mail, look it up. You are not getting ripped off, its the postal service dieing and charging too much.

brian045 - i was under the impression that the customs label number is trackable, whether you do it thru ebay/paypal or at the store.

will find out soon enough, as i just mailed 2 from transactions on here via the store.

I think it's comical. At a time of such despicable service they (I'm sure inadvertently LOL) choose to up their rates. I can't stand Canada Post. If only there was an alternate choice.
