I will be attending the 3rd card show ever in my life this coming Sunday at Bonsor in Vancouver,...

I am curious if people with tables are there STRCITLY to sell or are they interested in trading too?

I would like to bring some choice tradebait along to see if I can trade for some items. Is this a taboo or is it welcomed??? Any advice is appreciated!

I can't speak for the Bonsor show, but when I attend shows here in San Jose, I always bring some high end traders(none of those MVP rcs or common jerseys), if I see something I like at a dealers table, I ask if they do any trading at all or just selling. If they say they do some trading they'll usually ask what I have or I pull out my small box of high end traders and let them take a look.. My motto when in doubt just ask, most dealers are pretty cool as long as you ask them and if they give you attitude, just spend your cash at another table :)

Lionel hit it right on the head. Be sure to keep a mental note as to who is willing to trade, as chances are they'll be at future shows and you'll probably get a good idea of the things they are looking for.

Just to give you an idea, I traded with 5 different people at the last show, and probably swapped over $600 in book value. I've actually restocked my autos for potential trades with one dealer and will pull out some Higgins RC to peak the interest of another. Next show here is in two weeks and I'll seek out both of those sellers.

The show we run in Toronto has a lot of dealers who are willing to trade for singles. Just make sure your trading cards of equal value and you'll be fine. Dealers like to rotate their inventory and trading is a good way to do that for them without having to spend more money. Keep your traders in a box and ask. Worst comes to worse they say they don't trade.

With that said very few dealers will trade for low end cards. So if that's what your after bring your wallet. A $12 jersey card is not really worth them trying to work a trade for.

Either way a show is a blast. Have fun!

Thanks for the help guys! That's what I would have done,... but now I know I won't be insulting people that are there strictly to sell for $$$.
