Verified Trader,
Haven't posted mail since May, so there's quite a few REALLY NICE pickups to show - so crack open a brew, sit back, and relax, for one of the best mailday threads I've done in a while!
First off, a beauty of a card in an awesome deal with dany206:
This patch is from the inside lower hem of the jersey - where all the retired Rangers numbers were sewn - this is Leetch's #2...
And although some of these guys aren't on the team anymore, it's an MDZ rookie card, super low-numbered, and for the cheap bid on ebay, had to have it:
Next up, some Lundy - since it's getting harder to find cards from my Lundqvist RC wantlist, I have resorted to picking up multi-player RC cards if they're cheap enough. Here's 2:
Next up are 2 beautiful cards from an easy trade with Chris (cathaytrader). Not sure what I'm doing with these, as they're very nice. I do have equally nice copies for myself, but then again, they're Lundy RC year... If you want them, let me know and I'll consider your offer.
OK - time to kick it up a notch!
First up is a VERY COOL contest win! On the night of the new Hobby Insider launch, most of us were on blogTV because the site was behaving badly. Jeremy was giving away a few cards (not the really good ones yet), and Eastridge Hobbies had a photo to give away as well. Not just any photo, a 16"x20" SIGNED Jean Beliveau photo! Well, I happened to be in the right place at the right time, answered their contest question the fastest, and WON! Although I'm a Rangers fan, as a hockey fan, I can truly appreciate this awesome photo. Enough story - check it out:
OK, back to cards. I usually collect RC cards, but when I saw these on ebay, and my cheap bid won them, I was pretty excited:
Gold /25:
Emerald /5:
And then this one popped up 2 weeks ago. Had to have it (and got it for a great price)!
The BLACK 1/1!!!!!
So, I guess I'm doing the rainbow (at least the jersey versions) - let me know if you have the higher numbered parallels.
And up next we have some cool, rare, RC Callahans from an easy deal with jagrnyr68:
AND NOW, THE TOP 4:
4) This "Lettermarks" clone from Panini was a lot easier to complete than the Black RC year nameplate set. And the D is #4/75, Del Zotto's jersey number! I have to say, I'm not impressed by the quality of these cards - the auto is hard to see and is not the same orientation on all cards, the manufactured patches aren't centered and glued in the window properly, and the surface edges have some gloss missing from cutting or collation. That being said, they're still nice looking all together.
3) Another Lundqvist Game-Used, Autographed stick! Like the other stick I was fortunate enough to obtain, this one was poorly listed on ebay, with a reserve, from a seller with only 15 feedback. Long story short, I bid, then contacted the seller, and was able to work a deal outside ebay that we were both happy about. $150 later, it arrives, and it is BEAUTIFUL!
And, I'm pretty sure I've found a photomatch for this stick, based on the very unique ripped white taping on the back of the stick. It comes from the 2nd game of the 08-09 season, October 5, 2008, a win against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Prague, Czech Republic!
2) A collecting buddy once told me not to feel too bad if you lose something on ebay - chances are it'll surface again. I don't know how true that is for 1/1s, but in this case, the advice worked. I originally lost this on ebay for over $450 in 2011. It went to a dealer who brought it to Toronto for a while, looking for $600+. I guess it changed hands, because it wound up on ebay last month from a different guy. I wound up making a cash/trade deal for it for under $300, and I'm super happy to finally have it!
The side I don't care too much about (can you center the shield, UD???? WTF????):
And the side that really counts:
And the #1 star:
A deal I've been working on with Matt (AndroSFL) for over a year, going back and forth with offers until he was happy and I was crying. Glad to finally have this AWESOME, super RARE card in hand, at a good price - AND Matt even delivered it in person since he was coming up to CT - always nice to meet a fellow Lundy collector!
Thanks for "watching" the show, and if you have any leads for the last 5 Lundqvist cards I need, I'll pay for solid info!
I may be going to the Expo, so hopefully I'll see some of you there!
