There are parts of a mask that could be utilized should they go that route (not advocating for it at all as the mask is by far the pinnacle of goalie memorabilia). Parts include the actual metal cage, the straps, the neck guard, and if you go to cage masks from the 1980s, those entire masks as they are all plastic, they would grind apart no problem.

Dang, but hey, thanks for that little tidbit of info!

I'm still optimistic it would be possible though. I had chips of paint and cracks of material organically break off my mask from shots before. It sucks as a goalie, but could be do-able in smaller pieces on cards I would suppose. Maybe on a small-scale level in terms of card production. But I'm no expert on this stuff though, especially when it comes to actually cutting up memorabilia, so in the end I'm not really sure.

I wonder if other parts of the mask could be made into cards. (The cage, Screws, straps, inner foams, etc).
 
I've always loved the 'Team Leader' cards that OPC did. I'd love to see those come back.

It could be an ongoing insert set each season. They could even go retro... start in the 70s and work forward. It would be kind of cool to see the goals/assist/points/PIM leaders for each team each year; there'd be some players on there a lot of people didn't remember.

They could be seeded so they are actually a bit scarce, but not scarce enough to be unattainable to complete the 30 team set.

I guess there's a legality issue though with retired players, right?
 
I would love to see autos, and cut up glove pieces of Philip Pritchard (The Stanley Cup caretaker) specifically the ones he wears to present the winning team the Stanley Cup!

I know it was supposed to happen at some point from someone, but never happened. Chinstrap strap and snap cards would be cool

I have also said for years I would love to see a set from the hockey movies. Mystery Alaska, Young Bloods, Slap Shot, Mighty Ducks 1, Miracle etc....

id be down for a set frm hockey movies, topps has dne it in baseball with cards frm movies Major league and bull durham so that would be very cool

I have a Brett Favre Upper Deck helmet card and it is awesome! I know they can do it. I understand the paint, but they can even do forwards and defensemen.

How about liquid "ice" from each arena as a card or memorabilia like a cut seat from Joe Louis! That would be awesome!

Those look great...no let's see UD put them in a new series. Every year it is the same product, but with less hits...IMO. I purchase cases and break them for myself and to be honest UD hasn't done that great of a job with cost to resale.

This year's product is going to take a big hit because of the low frequency big hits and no big name rookies like the last couple of years (McDavid 2015-16 and Matthews 2016-17). Boeser, Hirshier, Nolan, Keller, etc are not even close. There will be plenty of this year's product hanging around this time next year for rock bottom prices...IMO.
