I actually emailed Upper Deck about this last year because the 2022-23 release was absurdly bad for this kind of thing.
The response was basically that the set is completed so far in advance that they don't have time to update it before it gets printed. If you read player bios on the backs of cards this year, you'll see that this set was clearly set in stone around November or so. A lot of mention about individual performances in October/November.
I guess they don't have the ability to change player photos after the trade deadline. How about Briley Wood's card still being a Winnipeg ICE photo when there are other players pictured in Wenatchee Wild jerseys?? Makes no sense.
